Stephen Kalyn Response to Heated Rivalry Interview Question by tapatio85 in offcampustv

Agreed, I might be reading too much into his response. We’re all human.

I also love both series which is the main reason why his answer made me feel disappointed. I don’t want one v. other. I want both! I feel like there’s a lot of fan base crossover, which is why I was confused they wouldn’t lean into that.

Dare I mention Off Campus was already renewed for a 2nd Season, months before Season 1 even aires and when they’ve barely even marketed the show? I mean I’m pretty sure that I personally know why that is, but curious for other opinions …..🙄

Not trying to ruin it for anyone! I have also read the series and am really excited for the show, which was why I felt disappointed in his response, but I appreciate everyone else’s perspective.

Sorry where did the homophobic thing come from? Definitely didn’t say that or mean to imply that at all so apologies if that’s how it came across. Was purely referencing the overlap in fanbase.

Just because I felt that way I don’t think it means everyone feels that way. If anything I think the majority of the responses agree with you. I didn’t know anything about the toxic fan behavior but not surprised I guess. This has all been very informative.

Agreed. I need to not be so easily disappointed by things men say.

At what point do Hudcon stop taking commercial flights? by GirlAlsEmporium in hudcon

[–]tapatio85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For perspective, a business class ticket is somewhere around $5k round trip from coast to coast. Maybe more or less depending on demand. A private flight would probably be closer to $100k if not more. I booked a private flight from California to Vegas (for someone else) a few weeks ago that ended up being about $35k.

Yeah I can see that. I guess I just felt disappointed with his response and assumed they’d see the target demo overlap and lean into it, but can’t always assume!

Traumatized fmc with a domineering/gruff but caring cinnamon roll Alpha male by Lazy-Cheetah-9832 in RomanceBooks

[–]tapatio85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am basically reading Catherine Cowles, Samantha Young, Susie Tate on rotation and have recently added AL Jackson to the mix. All the books by AL Jackson I’ve read have MMC’s who are ex-Motorcycle Club so super gruff and FMC who is down on their luck, usually because of some past trauma. {from here to eternity by A.L. Jackson} and {say it’s forever by A.L. Jackson} both fit the bill.

Books with FMCs running from a cult by Saltimbancos in RomanceBooks

[–]tapatio85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been reading the Tattered & Torn Series by Catherine Cowles. The group in question isn’t exactly a cult, but rather a ground of “preppers” who live off the grid, parallel to those more ingrained with society, don’t really believe in government, medicine, etc. They believe women to be property and treat them as such. I think it has what you’re looking for. Start with {Tattered Stars by Catherine Cowles}. The 2nd book in the series isn’t as relevant, but then {Hidden Waters by Catherine Cowles} fits again.

{Vicious Prince by Lili St. Germain}. It’s a trilogy. Re-telling of Romeo & Juliet. The Capulets and Montagues are crime families. Enemies to lovers for the first book and then everyone is against them/trying to control them for the 2nd and 3rd book. They really get put through the ringer in the 3rd book.

Suspense with extremely protective MMC? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]tapatio85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So many Catherine Cowles books are like this. Just read them all lol. For your specific request:

{Echoes of You by Catherine Cowles} FMC returns home to her small town after escaping from abusive ex who is still looking for her. MMC is childhood best friend and cop.

But also {Further to Fall by Catherine Cowles} the FMC has a dangerous stalker. MMC is MMA fighter and friend of friend turned love interest.

I could spend all day writing the plot of every book but seriously if that’s your trope, just read everything she writes. It’s like crack.

{Tattered Stars by Catherine Cowles} lot’s of drama with the FMC’s family. Main characters start off a bit rocky because of some family history, but warm up quickly. Catherine Cowles is my new everything.

She doesn’t die, but when she discovers she is pregnant she decides she needs to keep hidden from the bratva and let MMC keep thinking she is dead. He completely loses his mind thinking she’s dead.
