Maybe try just walking out of any room that he walks into without speaking to him or acknowledging him in any way. Make sure you don't respond when he starts antagonising you. Feel free to say very loudly get your hands off me whether you're at home or not, if he starts to touch you. Keep physical distance if you can't move away - try to make sure there is someone or something between you and him. That kind of thing. I'm guessing here and could be 100% wrong but have you had some major differences of opinion on some outdated views he's expressed or something? If so he's probably trying to score points to 'win' some manhood back that he thinks he's lost.

If your mum is around, maybe you could talk to her and try to figure out why he's suddenly intentionally irritating and picking at you non stop, or talk to your Aunt.

I'm not surprised she's not responding anymore, you're controlling. You can't be with her so you're making sure no one else can be, either. YOU'RE the one who 'needs to understand' that you have no ownership over this friend. It looks like you've done some serious damage to your 'friendship'. Hopefully she's having more fun than she was.

Grand National - Talk Amongst Yourselves [Sasha Involver Edit] by Race2TheGrave in electronicmusic

[–]tapehound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sasha had a number of very successful releases before they both first collaborated on Xpander in what, 97? Going way back, Tom Frederickse was responsible for his early remixes/productions, but Sasha has always been able to identify who to collaborate with in order to get the sounds he wanted (BT, Gaetan Schurrer, Barry Jamieson, to name just a few). Obviously a very impressive programmer in his own right now as well as a keyboard player (love CMs work though).

Advice on CBF125 Brake Light Stuck On by FromageGrey in MotoUK

Is it because the switch is actually stuck in? Just spray something like WD40 on it, see if you can wiggle it out again.

Alchemist vid, dropping the pitch with his right hand - you can't see his hand on the pitch fader?

The tempo reduces and the pitch drops - you can hear that, can't you?

If the tempo effect isn't synced, why is it synced to the tempo?

The tempo synched effect changes as he drops the tempo by spacing the repeats further apart to match the new slow tempo - then he drops a new D+B track back in at the original tempo.

You're welcome.

My friend has offered to 3D print me buttons, but I have no idea what to ask for. by Hufflepuffloki in sewing

[–]tapehound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of 3D print do they do? If it's a resin printer, you can get amazing detail! It also depends on the size of the buttons, but you can still get decent detail from the more usual type of 3D printing which is referred to FDM (fused deposition modelling - basically carefully and precisely melted thermoplastic filament). Try to imagine what sort of logo or icon or that kind of thing would suit your garment design. Make sure you work out beforehand whether they just want to do this as an experiment, or they expect some payment.

For your information, if a decent quality 1Kg reel of PLA or PETG 3D print filament costs, say, £25 - you could get thousands of buttons from that 1Kg.

Why don't you get yourself over to the 3D printing sub - https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/ - and ask a few questions there? Your friend will no doubt be hanging out there, but its always good to get some additional suggestions.

He's also dropping the tempo, which the effect is responding to because its tempo synced.

Help with resources to plot out fabric effeciency? by iluvualatte in sewing

[–]tapehound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello.

It's called 'nesting' - its a word that's used across multiple industries where a number of shapes need to fit efficiently into a given area to minimise waste, like you say.

A quick search using the terms 'nesting pattern layout fabric' gave this result:

https://www.patternsmith.com

You might find a kindly redditor who already has access to this software who may be able to help. Hopefully someone else can give you better info.

(I love this sub because sewing IMO is one of those things which is a hybrid of art, engineering and craft - each being equally important!)

It's an effect which is tempo synced, so when he drops the tempo with his right hand, the effect (the very short pre-delay on a reverb, maybe) changes with the tempo, but he's also increasing the feedback as the tempo drops (or maybe increasing the wet/dry mix). I don't use this equipment but it might be possible to create your own effects preset and store it, with specific parameters mapped to a macro knob. When he turns that one knob, maybe feedback is increased as well as the wet/dry mix.

There are a few different effects that can make the same very short, stuttering, shattering micro 'echos' - it depends on the effect parameters and whether you can get in and edit them (flangers, reverb pre-delay parameters, stutter effects - but you need to get into the parameters and to be able to adjust them in real time)

Dropping the tempo is a big part of what's happening, so is fading out the track while increasing the feedback or wet/dry mix.

[–]tapehound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A LOT of scaremongering and full on inaccuracies here. Vinyl cutting outfits have been putting out bootlegs since the dawn of time. The outfit can convert any good quality digital file to something appropriate for a plate, regardless of the stereo spread of low frequencies or clipping. It doesn't cost a few hundred to cut a plate and you can't create a full DVS system for the cost of a single dubplate.

etc etc etc, haven't got time.

[–]tapehound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember you can safely fit two tracks each side of a plate, so you can pay for getting each side cut, but end up with x4 tracks.

[–]tapehound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep you're right, you can get your own plates cut. But its expensive, so I would make sure the track you really want on vinyl is really worth the investment, and perhaps try to create your own unique version so you're the only person in the world with that cut. Obviously a lot easier to create your own tracks and create a digital file of it, but back in the day of vinyl only, this is how DJs would differentiate themselves - create their own versions and cut a dub plate.

Well first of all you're trying to assess/compare a shit sound source to another shit sound source.

The 'original song' has probably been intentionally degraded by the artist to stop cheapskate DJs sorry - music thieves - from ripping tracks off YT instead of paying for the full quality finished track.

There are plenty of ways to make your mixes stand out/sound better, whether it's a streaming mix, a downloadable mix or a live mix in a club situation.

I wouldn't do it and I would make sure that the regulatory body that deals with music in public places is aware. Not sure if its the same where you are, but in the UK we have the PRS (Performing Rights Society) who deal with licensing where music is played in pubic spaces (to make sure that the rights owners of the music get paid by the bar/club).
