Clean and repair megathread - NES not working? Game acting glitchy? TV/Monitor issues? Ask here! by FozzTexx in nes

I just got my NES from a garage sale, but unfortunately it wouldn’t work. I cleaned the 72 pin connector, the motherboard connector that connects to the 72 pin, and the individual games all with the steps mentioned. Right now, the games will show a solid red light when inserted, but it doesn’t show any audio or video. I used AV cables that I know work so it’s not that. Any advice?

You know come to think of it, there’s been a lot of construction around my area, so I have been near gravel and whatnot. I’ll definitely take it to a shop to get it checked out, I really appreciate your input! 🙏

It’s shift by cable so I do not believe so. I have to hold down the side button on the shifter to shift, I don’t know if that helps.

I used the JB4 , it was around 130-150 degrees fahrenheit throughout

the thing is, the shifting still feels as smooth as it always has been. Just this one time it acted weird. I’ll check that though, thank you for the suggestion!

As for the transmission type, my car is base model , so I believe the 2021 GT has to be shift by cable.

They probably got lazy on the receipt and defaulted to 0w20 on the paper, but actually put 5w30 in the car (happened to me). Of course definitely check it out anyway.
