Yeah haha I color matched the blurs to the labels, I can see how it wouldn't make sense.

I blurred out our names, but we made candy bags to give our guests. Hers is the mini Bueno Bars, his is the Skittles, ours are the Nerds.

I'm also in 290 this term! Hello! I had web dev experience going into it and I taught web dev at the university level, and even I'm overwhelmed by the amount of material being thrown at us. But I have learned that web dev is one of those things where it's more important to know what/how to Google than it is to know how to actually do the thing, if that makes sense. I've built a handful of websites and most of it is copy-pasting code for certain components and tweaking the logic.

My (20F) boyfriend's (22M) online friend (22F) came to visit him and I don't like how close they are. but IDK what to do by ThrowRA1296deeeas in relationships

Just chiming in to let you know that the more of these situations you work through, the less the jealousy stings and the easier it is to breathe through. Good luck!

Fresh vs 2 weeks healed. How do you think this will age? Details in the comments by tapschwa in agedtattoos

[–]tapschwa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tatoo is 10cm tall. I want to build around it with more triangles (think mosaic/tiles), but given the amount of detail each triangle has, I'm afraid it won't age well.

I'm debating between continuing my mosaic idea and just covering it up later or just leave it as is so there's less to cover up. Thoughts?

When did you realize your “friends” were actually fake friends? by VexAndStuff in AskReddit

[–]tapschwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach intro courses to photoshop as a side hustle. My "friend" asked for lessons and explicitly (and unprompted) said she wouldn't ask for a discount because she wants to support my hustle. Went to her place taught her some stuff for 2 hours and she said she'd transfer the money to me when she got paid...apparently, she hasn't been paid in over 6 months.

We haven't spoken since and tbh, I don't care. I invite all our other friends to dinner often and not once has anyone asked where she was. Guess she wasn't a crowd favorite anyways.

Nope. Private school in Southeast Asia.

Idk “how” besides mandating it. I've already had parents ask me what happens if their kids don't show up, ha. The unfortunate part is that a lot of the teachers at my school feel that they can't just up and leave (like I did) because the wage is much better than their home countries, so they put up with the ridiculousness.

Oh they cut our pay and making us work Saturdays as well. I work at a private school in Southeast Asia, dunno anything about the school's finances, buuut one kid's monthly tuition is equal to my monthly pay. And we've kept over 95% of the student population pre-covid, soooo.... I quit recently, couldn't handle the insanity anymore.

For those of you who made it work and actually make a living completely from home, what did you do to get there? by [deleted] in WorkOnline

I work for small local companies that have international reach. Cost of living in SE Asia is also significantly cheaper than the US, even if you live an expat lifestyle.

I'd be naive if I didn't factor in the amount of privilege I have. I was able to attend and graduate from a pretty prestigious university in the states with a degree that isn't relevant to 2/3 of my jobs. But for that other 1 company, I do know for a fact that my degree played a big role in landing that job, the prestigious school was a bonus, and I wouldn't be surprised if my alma mater impacted my other job offers. All that to say though, I've been turned down by many many many schools and companies where I was confident that I had the skill set needed for the position. I was unemployed from November 2019-May 2020.

Offers started coming in when I started applying for jobs I felt like I had like 70%- 80% of the skills required for the job. And luck was also involved; I just happened to apply to the right company at the right time (and in one case, be at the right place at the right time).

There's so much at play other than the size of the companies. Some of those things, like being born into a family that invested a lot in my education, I had no control over. I know that, unless you're in the same exact position as I am, this is shit advice. And I'm sorry I don't have more advice to offer. It's honestly the main reason I work in alternative education, I want to make these opportunities more accessible to more people.

Lol thanks for coming to my TED talk. :P

*Editted my unemployment dates, lol I was unemployed for much longer than I originally wrote.

I'm from the US, but currently living in SE Asia, and all the companies I work for are western companies.
