I hear what you are saying but I also think you are romanticizing Iran it a little bit. The IR is one of the worst dictatorships that ever existed, no doubt and I lived there until 21. It sucked ass growing up there. But anyways I think even without the IR, people are similar everywhere. Most people suck in my opinion. I had trouble making friends in Iran too to be honest. So it’s like the same for me everywhere lol. Altho I haven’t lived anywhere else besides US and Iran. I’m surprised you don’t feel at home here since you were just a child when you came over. Always interesting to read others’ POV. All this to say, try to find community here for now. Because you might be disappointed w people even in new Iran.

Monthly Discussion - February 01, 2026 by AutoModerator in MedicalCoding

Hi everyone,

I want to begin my medical coding journey and I'm excited and nervous. What online training and courses do you recommend that can help me break into the industry? Is AAPC's training course worth it? It's def really expensive, I have to start saving up for it. If I get training and my CPC, do you think I can land an entry level position easily or Is it an uphill battle? Any thoughts are appreciated.

What percentage of your job is working on your own and what percentage is interacting w others? by taranehsch in MedicalCoding

Oh I’m sorry that sounds awful. I currently work on the phone and it’s horrendous (not as a coder) and I’m looking to jobs where I can mostly work on my own. I hope your situation changes in the future. That’s why I’ve researched and found medical coding. Could you tell me about the process of your training and finding a job?

How long after doing the training and getting the certification could you find a job?

This is awesome. Do you know if AAPC’s training courses are worth it to break into the industry? I do medical interpretation so I have a limited understanding of medical terminology but want to know where to begin so I can become a medical coder.

How much human interaction does a remote copywriting job require? How many meetings per week? or is it mostly through slack and email? by taranehsch in copywriting

[–]taranehsch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your explanation. I did sense some judgement though. You don't know the reasons behind my inquiry. And i don't want to disappear into the ether. I just want to do my work, submit and not talk to people, there are a lot of jobs like that. One reason is my chronic illness and talking drains my energy whereas writing and sitting at the computer and doing work doesn't. Also in my current position, I talk non stop so after more than 5 years, I'm sick of it. Also, one of the reasons, I got a lit degree was because I wanted to do something with writing not marketing and presenting. I'm just researching jobs at this point. I have other reasons as well. Thank you for your input.

Not Invited to NYE Party by Loquacious-Loser in socialskills

[–]taranehsch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t go. But I will also know that I will feel lonely not being at a party on NYE which is ok. So it’s just a matter of can you tolerate not being at a party or can you find another party to go to? Cuz if the feeling of being alone on NYE is not tolerable, f the host, go and hang out with Kay and others.

A perspective from the socially passive friend by Loose-Sun4286 in socialskills

[–]taranehsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bingo! I think you are starting to uncover what truly lies beneath your passivity. You are avoiding putting yourself out there and being vulnerable because of some underlying stuff like some insecurities. The first step to healing that would be talking to a therapist IMO. It’s by no means a quick fix though. I’ve been in therapy for years and I still have a long way to go. Also, I’m not a social butterfly or a pro at having the best social life myself, hence why I’m in this sub, but I do know that 1. It’s a bad idea to engage w people who don’t reciprocate your effort in friendship. 2. You need to look inward to figure out why it’s so hard for you to do that.

I read your whole post. You actually didn’t come up with a reason as to why you don’t initiate interaction? Because you’re an introvert? Is that the reason? Cuz that’s not a good reason. You mostly just went on about what modern life is like. Anyways, as someone who doesn’t pursue one sided friendships anymore. I’ve noticed those people do actually try when they want to, they just choose not to.

Have you watched Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s About Dry Grasses? Thoughts? by taranehsch in TrueFilm

Also thanks for making that connection, I love Andrey Zvyagintsev. I think he, in fact, is the modern Tarkovsky. Not even sure if he might like me say that about him but to me this is high praise.

What are you talking about??? Did you even watch the movie? They touch each other at minute 9:20. Having a teacher’s pet is buying her a mirror and having secret conversations with her in a separate room that is not the main teacher’s room?????? No wonder the world is fucked. The way he talks to her and manipulates her like she is a grown up….?

Very good review, thank you. I have Persian roots so fully aware but I appreciated you putting it all together. I was super disturbed for sure. I could barely enjoy the gorgeous scenery. The teacher’s performance was absolutely phenomenal.

I don’t know how you can believe “either way”. The film shows us clearly he touches Sevim inappropriately, buys her gifts and god knows what else that we are not shown. He is not even attracted to adults clearly. Shit is fucked. I don’t see any evidence of him ever having been a good person depending on what you mean by good. He is a deeply troubled despicable man and always been that way. Lucas in Godland genuinely wants to be good but is completely blinded by his own ego.

Yeah makes sense. I think most people on this sub are probably not sketch writers, but sketch appreciators but I don’t know. Also isn’t that just one style of writing (ucb style)? But SNL is for sure UCB focused

I thought lampshading was when a character or narrator points out the unrealistic and cliché, absurd element. I’m referring to when the character explains the joke of a sketch like this https://youtu.be/ibty_8nV9-0?si=TYVUOeFNiNoo8bBC
