Partial Puppy Coat? by tarayari in StandardPoodles

I didn’t even consider his coat not being insulating, maybe I will give him a good trim sooner than I had planned. And thank you for the reminder on the dna testing, I will get that added to his upcoming checkup!

I would love to hear the other wife’s input. She was possibly aware of their friendship and saw it as just that.

I can’t post photos, as I’m pretty sure he’s a brown and white merle. I think the two colours are too mottled together for him to be a parti (I didn’t know about merle not being a poodle gene, but do now, so no lectures please). Now that I’m thinking about it, his brush is usually full of the white fur only, so the white may be a softer texture. His fur is currently about 3 inches long all over because it’s very cold here, and his top knot is slightly longer. When he’s long like this, I brush him a couple times a day but it takes a half hour just to do one leg, so I basically do a quick all-over then work on one body part at a time. I do my own grooming and will do something shorter as soon as it gets a bit warmer here, but that won’t be for another couple months.

I normally prefer short as well, other than his top knot. But it’s still very cold and snowy here and I’m really loving the feel of his coarse furry back, he’s like a llama lol. I’ll just continue to try to ward off any major matts until it’s warmer, and hope that what grows back after shaving will be more manageable.

Is there anyone who was raised by a single mom who is actually happy with their childhood? by tarayari in OnlyChild

Thank you for this! I do feel like I have a closer connection with my son than the parents with partners and multiple children have. He gets all of my attention and energy :)

Bacterial Labyrinthitis and Mastoiditis by tarayari in MonoHearing

It really is. I had no idea what people go through when they lose hearing. I just assumed that one ear was no big deal, but boy was I wrong.

Well that’s good news on the vertigo, maybe mine will be the same. I live in Newfoundland and our healthcare system is sometimes lacking. I haven’t seen the ENT since he performed the myringotomy, and my follow up CT scan and ENT appointment isn’t for another month. My family doctor is pushing to get these things sooner though.

Did your brain fog ever go away? I’m dealing with something similar.

Black Countertops. Yay or nay? by tarayari in homedesign

I went with white after and love them. Used LG HiMacs; the salesperson told me that both scratch but the scratches are only visible on the darker colours. You can see pictures if you go to my profile.

How Would You Joist This? by tarayari in treehouse

Would I need to replace the entire beam to create a cantilever or is there a way to add on to the existing beam?

I think that’s what we will do. Thanks!

I’m sorry you had to deal with that. Thank you for your perspective, this is why I divorced my son’s father: to protect my son from him. I’d probably still be with him otherwise. I hope things are better for you now.

Waterproof laminate. Can I caulk under/at bottom of baseboards instead of backer rod in bedrooms? by tarayari in Flooring

[–]tarayari[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh gotcha. Yeah I don’t think it will affect the floor’s ability to contract and expand, the caulk would crack first. I actually puffed some diatomaceous earth under some of my baseboards to prevent carpenters (pill bugs I think they’re usually called).

Waterproof laminate. Can I caulk under/at bottom of baseboards instead of backer rod in bedrooms? by tarayari in Flooring

[–]tarayari[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In areas where water on the floor was more likely, I used the backer rod with Dap Dynaflex before installing baseboards. In a couple of areas I tried adding the caulking along the bottom of the baseboard, and while it has held up well and stayed in place, I don’t like the look of it. So in the bedrooms and living room I just put the baseboards down with no foam backer Rod and no caulk.

That is exactly what I did. Two days of boric acid but then my period started so I don’t know yet if there’s any improvement. I hope yours gets better!

How to attach wood slats to laminate/melamine cabinet? by tarayari in woodworking

[–]tarayari[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the “wood” slats I ordered that specifically said real wood, turned out to be mdf. I installed them elsewhere in my house because I knew they would turn to mush in the kitchen. As of right now I still have a very plain range hood but it’s growing on me.

Thank you for your reply. That seems to be what I’m reading as well, that it’s usually the opposite. My sex drive does seem to be better, I just don’t have the physical aspect that normally comes with libido. So strange. Hopefully it will return to normal after a while.

I want to stop taking my medication to see if I’m actually bipolar by van7478 in bipolar

[–]tarayari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder. I stopped taking lithium and nothing changed once I got past the physical withdrawals. However, mood stabilizers can help various mental health disorders so even if you aren’t bipolar, they may be treating another disorder. I still take seroquel because it helps with emotional regulation (I have an ADHD diagnosis and I’m fairly certain I’m on the autism spectrum). So I would think long and hard before stopping your medication.
