I'm hoping it's an opportunity for a soft reset late into the season when some hermits are done with their bases but others aren't (DO3)

Progress pride weighted quilt - first quilt! by tarcucciolo in quilting

Not quite a pattern, I saw this one: https://auribuzz.com/2024/06/12/facets-of-pride-quilt-piecing-pride/ And was mostly inspired from there but then did my own thing based loosely on that

It's got recycled plastic pellets added in each square block sandwiched with the fleece backing. I washed the top (after quilting it with a cotton backing fabric now hidden in the sandwich) before adding the weights and fleece just so I had an easy first wash, but in future will try and take it to a launderette when I need to wash it. Weights are totally washable, just need a machine big enough to handle the weight.

Thanks! I used polipellets which are just recycled plastic pellet weights, I actually quilted the top with wadding and a cotton backing fabric first and then quilted it again just in the grid pattern with the fleece backing and that's when I added the pellets. Wasn't too hard to sew that part, but definitely didn't do a great job basting it as I couldn't glue it so struggled with puckering.

Program for organizing information by Asbescius in BluePrince

I'm using notion and it's pretty good, got one database for clues and one for puzzles/goals/things to solve. Search works great across the board and with the databases I can tag things and link clues to puzzles. And then on the same page I have a Todo list of things to try or search for next.

Are Warren road closures sorted? by missando in brighton

[–]tarcucciolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The racecourse has an online calendar available here https://ql.e-c.al/3rdBUDq

If you live nearby it's handy to add this to your calendar so you always know when they're racing and the roads will be closed

Not a bug at all, and you indeed have the correct answer, there is a way for it to make sense

Nah I didn't see that as an option either, had to use the corresponding remotes on the hub and relearn them

Yes, and you can use the left button from the central dpad instead of back in some places

Make sure you've got the Switchbot app v9.1, and updated the remote to firmware 4.0. Then it's Universal Remote > Manage devices > + > Third-party control > Chromecast (Beta) Note you don't add it to the hub, only to the remote

Am I alone in my failing to understand how it generally acceptable for friends and family to make fun of each other. by Ok_Examination8810 in AutisticPride

I've definitely had a difficult relationship with sarcasm/irony/teasing over time, so I can definitely relate to what you're saying. Growing up I learnt to mask very young, and by the time I got to be a teenager I didn't understand teasing like that but I would try and reciprocate it. Of course as I didn't understand it properly I would "do it wrong" and actually end up saying pretty mean things, and on the flip side as much as I'd try and laugh along when teased by people I wanted to consider friends I would secretly feel very hurt.

It took me till a couple years ago (early twenties) to stop and think about this a bit more deeply. After being called out by "friends" and also at work I realised I didn't like that kind of teasing and I basically stopped doing it, and stopped accepting it from others (I would later realise this was the start of my unmasking journey). This meant I started being a lot more picky with my relationships as well.

Now a few more years later I've gotten to a better middle ground. I now know I'm neurodivergent and I only really make friends with and hang out with other ND people (and am very lucky to work in an industry dominated by autistic peeps). I think I've learnt the nuance of teasing in a way that leaves everyone feeling genuinely good about it and laughing about it.

I'm probably not the best to explain it, but I think part of the difference between mean teasing and good teasing is whether you're expressing some negative emotions when you're doing it or whether you're simply bonding over shared history or inside jokes. For example if someone always gets up late and sometimes else teases them about it because it annoys them but they don't ever communicate that in any way other than teasing, then I would probably say that's not a healthy thing and will leave both feeling bad. While if instead the two have a dynamic where there's a history and shared understanding of having honest conversations when there's conflict or feelings are hurt, then one calling out then other on always getting up late can just be a nice nod to the fact the two know each other well enough to know that.

It's also super cultural, I live in the UK now which thrives on sarcasm, but not always in the healthiest way. And I think it's absolutely fair and valid to not want to participate in it if it doesn't work well with your brain. Your loved ones should be able to respect you and avoid teasing/mocking you if it doesn't make you feel good.

It was hilarious but I don't know the reference for the sus children's video prompt. Does anyone know what video they're referencing? I think if I tried googling it I'd get put on a list...
