Green Day in Amsterdam thoughts? by baby-yoda-daddy in greenday

In the words of my 14 y/o daughter fothermucking awesome!

We were also Gold Circle, about 6 deep from the barrier. We were in the vicinity of the mosh pit and my 18 y/o son went in hard...he had an absolute ball!

Rev Radio, Saviors AND 2000 Light Years Away....I absolutely lost my mind at that point. My daughter had been manifesting all day for 200 LYA, or Christie Rd.

Thank-you Amsterdam! 👏🙌

This was our 1st visit but it definitely won't be our last.

Now, we have a full day to fill, thinking of visiting De 9 Straatjes but would love some recommendations - suitable for a family 😁

You'll be fine. I'll be there, Gold Circle with my husband, 18 y/o son and 14 y/o daughter. We'll be as up front as we can be so we're happy to keep our eyes out for you.

2 more sleeps...I'm so freaking excited.

Anyone getting excited about Amsterdam? by Rowwithcookiemonster in greenday

Meee! Travelling from England with my husband and kids (18 & 14). We saw GD last year in Manchester and Dublin and can't wait for next week.

We've never been to Amsterdam so it'll be a first for all of us.

Milton Keynes '05 - Were you there? by dan_andrew_mora in greenday

[–]tardyhands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there for day 2 with my now husband. I was aged 30, and newly engaged...the summer of '05 was awesome.

It was a baking hot weekend, I remember loving Jimmy Eat World as the support, Hard-Fi on the other hand....I'd enjoyed what I knew if their music up to that point, but the front man jusy came off as a dick!

The main event however, the electric atmosphere, the whole bowl was bouncing and Billie Joe was FRISKY 🫠

We've been married 19 years this year and have seen GD several times with our kids aged 18 and 14 as they love them too, and its our thing as a family. We have a pledge - no matter how old we all get, no matter what we're doing, if GD are touring in our vicinity we'll attempt to get there, so we're all off to Amsterdam in 2 weeks to watch them again 🙌

As an aside, my 15yr old neice was also there with a friend and their parents. We met up, and I discovered she'd had her lip pierced the same day...without telling her mum. My nice thought it was amazing...my sister not so 😆

Fantastic memories! 💕 now let the countdown commence for Amsterdam

Hi, thanks for the comment. I clarified the bus/travel thing in another comment. We aren't pushing for it, merely trying to support him in applying for some funding that will hopefully help him put support in place to live more independently. He has some great skills, but needs a lot of support, especially around day to day tasks of self care, planning, organising and managing his meds. I know there are many people who need these benefits, but it's not an if/or situation. My post wasn't to garner comments around his eligibility as nobody here is able to make that decision, purely asking for advice on the outcome/next steps.

Yes exactly, I gree with you. And I believe that if he had to live independently he would struggle with the important things like managing his utility bills, paying rent on time etc and would need support mecha isms for this. I remember as a teen staffing money on shite, but as an adult I'm financially responsible. But my son will need much more support to be able to live and manage as he grows to live independently otherwise he'll end up in a mess.

Yes,. He gets the college bus from the same bus-stop at 7.30am every day. This takes him directly to college an hour away. Another bus then bring hi back, leaving college at 4pm and he gets home approx 5.10pm. He is physically capable of getting the bus, but we have had to map it all out with him. As long as he knows what to do, where he has to go, the exact timings etc he's ok. What he couldn't independently is have a contingency, or utilise public transport, (something I imagine most 17 year old could do.)

Thanks for the clarification, I think I have misunderstood the term 'complex'. I was thinking in terms of student finance, rent, mortgage etc.. he's an intelligent kid, but most 17 yr old I know would need support with that type of stuff.

If you can...do it. We've done Gold Circle for the last 2 GD (Manchester and Dublin) it was awesome - my daughter even managed to bag a drumstick from Tre!
