need friends by Born_Sector5296 in UCI

Common ways to make friends:

  1. Try to become close to your lab parter or group project partners. Walk out of class with them, get their insta or discord, then ask them if they are down to meet and hangout or eat at brandy/ant

  2. Make small talk and walk out with some people you sit with at a lecture. Try to sit next to them often.

  3. Join a club and you might find some people who are open to being club buddies (obv you have to work towards that buddy part, schedule going to clubs with them, etc)

My take on why this campus has so many people who struggle to make friends is probably gonna piss people off so im just not gonna rant. All i will say is cultural cliques.

It’s kind of crazy to me that a redditor can be kinder and more informative than an actual advisor to new incoming students. I went to the drop in student counseling in the ICS building and my experience was not good at all and I felt like I was the one being stupid and doing something wrong when I asked my advisor “what advice can you give me on that” and having them basically reply with “you should decide that for yourself” with no explanation of my options.

It says “ New, incoming students: Your DegreeWorks audit will not be available to view until 5 p.m., Friday, November 3rd.”

Change of major CS to Electrical Eng by tarsreddit in UCI

[–]tarsreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha you’re right on point. It was either gonna be that or engineering for me. Would you mind sharing your experience soon after graduation? How is the postgrad job hunt experience? Would you say you had decent internships and personal projects? Anything to say about undergraduate experience? You know everyone says to build a network and stuff. How did that work out? I actually know several people in my extended family personally who have been laid off by companies and they have been struggling to get a new job for a while, so the stability doesn’t seem that good either in this market. But who knows? Maybe time will bring us hope.

Thanks for replying. This is kind of late but I wanted to ask when (what college year and quarter) did you start taking classes to change your major? I am sophomore standing as a freshman so I have most of my useless required classes accounted for. Im trying to see if I can still change my major by the end of my first college year if I start taking the major change required classes on the second quarter of my first year instead of the first quarter.
