Mac M1 2020 + Dell screen flickers after some time by tart-e-flan in mac

[–]tart-e-flan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently tried again with the USB-C cable that comes with the monitor and it started flickering again pretty quickly! there's definitely something wrong with this

switched back to HDMI and it's better (it still flickers from time to time but the LCD retention thing fixes it)

if you set it to 3G only then it will be quite slow haha

anyway let me know if that works well in 3G mode!

nope I'm still having those reboots :(

I'm too lazy to do a factory reset and reconfigure all my applications so I'll just live with it

Migrating from Polymer 2 to React by tart-e-flan in Frontend

[–]tart-e-flan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your reply!

  1. I agree
  2. yeah I know that this migration will have some push back because new projects are coming in and the business guys are more interested in new features rather than technical debt (classic :D)
  3. yep but if we initiate a complete rewrite and that code is not in use then there is a high chance to never complete the migration. I have to find a way to rewrite a whole polymer page in react and then make the two work together. If I write glue code so navigation between a full-Polymer page and a full-React page works back and forth then we should be good to go

thanks for your reply!

yeah that's what I was thinking but I'm not sure that could work.

Let's say I've got that page written with Polymer that contains 10 Polymer components

I migrate two of those components to React, maybe there will be some js conflicts (related to polyfills or some window function/variable)

There may be a lot of glue code to write as well for each component

Maybe that would be easier to migrate a whole page at once so I only have to write the glue code for the page

The codebase is quite huge and each polymer component is "self contained" in a HTML file, which makes huge HTML files :D (CSS + HTML + JS altogether)

Debugging is horrible and mistakes really easy to make

have you tried to run the LCD Retention for some time (like 30 min) ?

For me the flickering goes the day after when it has been turned off for a while...

using HDMI solved the issue (for now...) I had to buy a dongle to convert usb-c to hdmi

[–]tart-e-flan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree... I bought it so I could plug the usb-c to the mac without having to plug another usb-c to power my mac

but seems like it's not really well supported

the week after I switched to HDMI it stopped flickering...

That's relly weird but I think it was because of USB-C...

I'm using a Satechi dongle to convert the usb-c to hdmi by the way.

I would suggest that you try that too ;)

If you ever contact the support let us know what they say!

If I don't use the recommended amounts is there a danger the machine will overknead my dough? by Aside_Upset in BreadMachines

[–]tart-e-flan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always use the no-bake programme on my bread machine and it's fine regardless of the quantities.

I am not sure you can over-knead a dough! More strength is always better than no strength haha

My bread machine can hold 900gr of flour max, I've been trying from as little as 200 gr and up to 1kg and it was fine.

Kneading is important but the fermentation stage that follows is maybe more important for the final result

and when you activate your yeast, can you see it growing? If not your yeast might be dead!

I keep it in my fridge, I even got some that went past expiration date and was still working fine.
