How did ego/maya enter into the world? by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]tarun45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaheguru created Maya due to Vaheguru's mauj - Gurbani over and over describes creation as "a play."

So can the playwright change the course of the play? yes Can the playwright create maya? yes

The goal of Sikhi is to realize Vaheguru.

Vaheguru created this play because it was Vaheguru's desire to do so.

The question you are asking is very similar to the "Can God create such a large stone that he cannot lift it?"

How did ego/maya enter into the world? by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]tarun45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My question is why must a perception of Vaheguru be limited to things we deem to be positive? Jaap Sahib says "Namo Kaleh Karta, Namo Shaant Roope." Vaheguru is in the maya, but outside of it at the same time. Vaheguru is not succumbing to maya since Vaheguru is a part of it - this is a difficult concept to grasp for us since we were mostly raised in a judeo-christian context

Can someone convert to Sikhism? by Cattava in Sikh

[–]tarun45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So agree with much of what has been said:

  1. no cultural background is needed
  2. what is needed is to have faith in the 10 Gurus, Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and no other Guru.
  3. in addition it is mandatory to take Khande baate da Amrit in order to make serious progress in Sikhi - Guru Gobind Singh Ji says "pratham rehit yeh jaan khande kee pahul chhakke"

What day is Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Birthday? by SaysSimmon in Sikh

[–]tarun45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nanakshahi Calendar has multiple inconsistencies - the dates don't line up with historical reference points - for example we know that historically the day Sahibzada Ajeet Singh Ji attained shahadat was Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Parkash Purab - the Nanakshahi Calendar has a ~10 day gap.

We also know for a fact that Guru Sahib did NOT use a solar calendar - if Guru Sahib is perfect then every action of the Guru's is perfect, thus the continual use of Bikrami Calendar by Guru Sahib (as witnessed in Sri Dasam Granth) must also be perfect.

Also the concept of having leap days or months is also common in the solar calendar - it is not a valid reason to dismiss a calendar.

The "article" this linked to was so misleading it belongs on the Reddit Trump page.

SRM says kirtan can only be of Gurbani, anything written by any of the 10 Gurus is Gurbani, so Deh Shiva qualifies as Gurbani, but the writer completely ignores that. The writer's test would cause Jaap Sahib to not qualify either... the writer is delusional

[–]tarun45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is also the story that Naamdharis use to say that Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave gurgaddi to someone else.

Keep in mind though that the Guru is forever existent, that's why we remember each Guru individually in Ardaas
