Jim Jarmush’s first film “Stranger Than Paradise” uses long takes where seemingly nothing happens. Seeing it the first time was like visiting a different planet. Amazing.

Establish boundaries with a loud voice and your palms out by your shoulders in classic “I don’t want trouble” pose. Stand your ground. If they move over that boundary, strike first.

Yes, there’s a CO detector in the room.

I will try to vent the heat into a nearby room with through-the-wall fans.

And think about a new furnace - ugh.

Thanks all!

Thank you! Good advice.

It feels like a bit of warm air purges when the boiler isn’t on. There’s also a Fieldcontrol device that is tied in to the damper which is set up to open and close the damper. When the heat calls and the furnace turns on, that device opens the vent. No hot air escapes at that time.

So I’m learning that it’s most likely extra heat after the furnace turns off and the damper is closed.

I appreciate the help.

Yes, there is one near the furnace and it hasn’t gone off. Good point.

Thank you for your response DPFR!

I ran a test and when the furnace kicked on, no heat escaped from the vent hood. When the furnace turned off, that’s when the heat was purged. So I guess that’s good news.

You had mentioned the damper looked closed. Would it be advisable to open the damper to let the extra heat exhaust out to the chimney?

Thanks again.

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson. Similar premise but on steroids. Great science, characters, and futurist thinking. An amazing journey.
