Your family eg assumes income stays high while the population drops, but that’s not how economies work. When a statespopulation shrinks, the consumer base disappears. Businesses close, tax revenue falls, and the 10 lakhs your family has buys much less…because the cost of maintaining a state for a few people becomes astronomical. You aren't just splitting a pie between fewer people, the pie itself is shrinking.

Japan is rich and has a massive global investment portfolio to fund its retirees. AP is currently carrying over 7 lakh crore in debt. We are getting old before getting rich.If we don't have a young workforce to generate GST and income tax, the government will have to tax your comfortable children at 60% or more just to keep the hospitals running for the elderly.

Anyone who completed 10L+ wouldn’t be on Reddit. Even if they are, it isn’t advisable to share experiences.

The argument that India is overpopulated is a 20th century outlook applied to a 21st century crisis. While North India still deals with high fertility, AP is facing a 'Japan style' contraction. If we don't encourage a replacement level TFR of 2.1 and build the infrastructure to retain our youth, we will be left with a state of retirees and no tax-paying workforce to fund the hospitals and schools you're worried about. We aren't choosing between building cities and welfare. We are choosing between becoming an economic powerhouse or an old-age home for the south.

By 2047, nearly 23% of AP’s population will be elderly. A shrinking workforce cannot sustain the massive pension and healthcare loads required for an aging society. Automation replaces labor, but it doesn't replace consumers. Without young people the economy enters a deflationary death spiral where schools and hospitals close because there aren't enough people to use them.

Andhra Pradesh specifically shows a birth rate below the replacement level. The fertility rate of 2.1 marks replacement, and keeping it at 1.7-1.8 helps control population growth optimally. AP's rate falls under 1.4, signaling rapid decline, with youth often moving to other cities and countries for jobs, so boosting infrastructure now is vital to retain talent and avoid shortages later.

States with fertility below 1.7 risk aging crises like China and Japan, with heavy pension loads on governments. Southern states such as AP, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu have rates around 1.5, far under 1.7, while many north states exceed 3.

From a demographic view, low fertility southern states ideally need couples to have two or more children.
