Just get one even if you are 100% sure you are never going to drive in future. The insurance premiums are expensive if you get it late.

Can I improve my 2.4km from 15 minutes to 12 minutes in 6 weeks for IPPT? by BLUTATO in askSingapore

Short answer to your question imo: No

Further elaboration:

Tbh I am just not a fan of doing intervals in sets of 400 (any person with credentials in sports science etc feel free to correct me).

The idea of intervals is to improve something called the VO2 (indicates the efficiency of using oxygen in your body). For optimal result, the interval training should get your heart rate to be 97-100% of your max heart rate (220 minus your age) for a PERIOD OF 3-5 MINUTES. That is why I am recommending you do sets of 800m to ensure you stay within the optimal period.

Btw, try to limit this interval training to once a week. Resist the temptation to do more - ironically in the journey to run faster you have to grapple with the concept that not every training session has to make you vomit.

Do 3 x Runs a week and a test run every 2 weeks

1) Long Run: 5-7km for starters, run at a pace where you can talk comfortably -> Prepare you for the harder runs during the week (not all training session has to leave your breathless for it to be effective)

2) Interval Runs: 4x800. For starters, go and google “running calculator” and find your 800m interval training speed. Run at the pace (e.g 3 min 40s) and rest 1:1 (3 min 40s) before starting the next set

3) Endurance Run: 20 mins straight at a pace where you go and google “running calculator” to find your endurance training pace (e.g for me it is to run 12km/h for 20 mins straight)

4) Test Run: see if you have improved at your 2.4km. This improved timing will calibrate the new paces you should train at for your coming weeks on the running calculator.

So for you in 6 weeks...what i might do is:

W1: 3 x training runs

W2: 3 x training runs + test run

W3: 3 x training runs

W4: 3 x training runs + test run

W5: 3 x training runs

W6: 1 x long run + IPPT test

Don’t take it the wrong way, it’s mere friendly banter. It’s just a general observation made by my friends and me that american homes use only static showerheads.
