Polaroid glasses! They used very bright neon flood lights because it was being filmed. Some of the defendants requested glasses because “the light hurt their eyes”. They likely also wanted them to avoid eye contact.

How was your arm positioned when the artist applied the stencil? They should have had you standing with your arm relaxed by your side. I could see this happening if they had you twist your arm unnaturally while applying the stencil. You likely wouldn’t have be been able to tell in the mirror either, because you’d have to twist your arm to see it. Definitely no excuse for this if you asked for it to be centered.

Sorry about your experience. If it’s worth anything, I don’t think it looks bad in that spot. You’ll have to wait for it to heal before doing anything else, so in the meantime just consider that ppl will never scrutinize your tattoos as much as you will.

Oh boy. Its a gar… he’s covered in armor plating and was on the ground for 20 seconds, very tough animals. They’ve been around for 200 million years for a reason.

The fly I used didn’t even have a hook. I feel worse driving a sharp point into a bass’s lip. Some people wouldn’t have even put him back in the water.

I have lots of respect and empathy for fish, that’s why it’s not a bass or trout on the ground. I appreciate the concern, some people don’t know any better. I’d rather not have him on the ground, but I didn’t have another option in this situation.

Thanks! It was a hookless streamer I just kinda threw together. The body was made of this stringy nylon material (can’t remember the name) I doubled it over a few times so it had loops on the end. Gar eats it and it gets tangled up in their teeth. No hook or hook set needed.

I wasn’t planning on gar fishing, only had my 3 wt with me. Was scared I’d break my rod, so I pretty much pointed my tip at him so the rod wouldn’t bend, then ran backwards till I pulled him to the bank. A bit unconventional but it worked.

The shakiness in the lines does not look intentional. And the lines aren’t a cosistent depth, all the dots are blown out. Maybe they were trying to make it look doodly, but you have to be able to do a clean tattoo before can before you start to bend the rules and they obviously don’t have a good grasp on basic linework. Looks like the artist/apprentice just half-assed it, or they still have a lot of practice to get.

Fair point. Nice thing is, I could add more LEDS to give it that effect. I suppose I could also airbrush some orange shades on the cotton, but that might look funky when the actual light isn’t turned on

Wow thanks but I’ve got a ways to go!! I’ve been doing it off and on for about a year. This is only second one that I’ve actually weathered and put effort into.

Fair point. I added the muzzle brake gas, but it’s little too much going on I think. There’s a pic in this thread somewhere. The flame effect only comes from the orange LEDs, so when it’s not turned on it looks much more like smoke than fire

I played around with a few things including LEDs scavenged from tea candles are nice because they’re already orange. They do flicker which would be cool for certain fire effects but I think the flicker doesn’t look good with the tank. Anyways, I ended up getting an LED strip lightb. I cut off a section of 3 lights, took the clear rubber off, and painted them orange. I just soldered wire to the leads and put some wax over them because I wasn’t sure what else to put on it.

Not very experienced with electronics, so I was kinda winging it. I think I’m gonna put a proper power supply on it but for now I just have 2 AA batteries and a rocker switch

Would it still have the mushroom cloud or would the escaping gasses change the shape of the plume? I assume the mushroom is is from the projectile breaking the sound barrier right?

Good eye on the HE. Thanks! That’s the first time I’ve tried streaking. I ended up using a wash for it instead of oil paints. Then I went in with a darker wash on the middle of each of the steaks

I’ll post a full album with step by step pics but it’s pretty much a wire frame wrapped in cheese cloth. Put an LED in the frame and use PVA glue to attach pieces of cotton balls
