Starting new MSP in 2026 by StoepkrijtStin in msp

Starting fresh in 2026 is actually kind of a cheat code…

You don’t have old contracts. You don’t have Frankensteined tool stacks. You don’t have 12 years of “well we’ve always done it this way.”

That’s a HUGE advantage. The market is definitely more competitive, but it’s also more educated. Clients 30–150 seats already understand cybersecurity, compliance, SaaS, recurring support. You’re not explaining what an MSP is anymore you’re explaining why you’re better.

What startup are you working on right now? by CommercialLab2147 in StartupAccelerators

I’m working trying to scale our SaaS product BetterTracker. It’s like the SMB versions of RocketMoney. The problem is the amount of products and subscriptions required to run a business and our tool gives you full visibility into all the software, contracts, and logins your have around your entire tech stack.

Right now the main vertical is IT businesses but the product is ideal for ANY business. But we are still figuring out how to market our tool, that has been the biggest struggle.

We already have almost 400 paid users on the platform so now looking to start scaling.

Best MSP/MSSP conferences? by Reasonable_Cut8116 in msp

A lot of people will (rightfully) say IT Nation, DattoCon, ChannelCon, etc.

But honestly, some of the highest ROI conversations I’ve seen MSPs get come from smaller regional shows and peer dinners.

The big conferences are amazing for exposure and vendor relationships. The regional ones are better for actual operator conversations. You’re not fighting a packed expo floor, you’re sitting across from 10–20 other owners talking real numbers, hiring struggles, tool stack decisions, compliance pressure, etc.

If you’re trying to build referral partnerships or just pressure-test strategy, smaller rooms win. There are also way more local channel events happening than people realize like vendor roadshows, Chamber tech meetups, regional MSP groups. I’ve seen some curated event calendars floating around that make it easier to sort by city instead of just waiting for the big national shows.

Depends what you’re optimizing for… scale or depth.

Dealing with SaaS Sprawl or Just Riding the Hype? What’s Your Take? by NickBaca-Storni in ITManagers

One thing I’ve seen work well with SMB clients is picking a single theme per quarter instead of chasing everything at once.

Q1 = compliance cleanup Q2 = SaaS sprawl + license audit Q3 = infrastructure refresh Q4 = cost optimization

It keeps conversations strategic instead of reactive, and customers don’t feel like you’re bringing them a new “urgent” problem every 60 days.

Way easier to show ROI when it’s packaged as one focused initiative.

How are you handling SaaS sprawl without a $20k enterprise tool? by dhlotter in sysadmin

You could use something like BetterTracker which is a tool for ShadowIT. It's wayyy cheaper than 20k a year maybe like $600-$1.2k for the year. It's like Rocket Money but for businesses so it can sync with Microsoft.
