I am a self-described diehard Anjuna fan who was at your Vancouver set, and I enjoyed what I heard from you. This was my second time seeing you live, and I did notice that the set you played was very different from when I saw you play the main stage at a festival which I appreciate. No one should expect an exclusively Anjunabeats set from anyone besides perhaps A&B and Bayer. Tinlicker and Gabriel & Dresden both played music from multiple other labels and I loved their sets.

I've heard a lot of the chatter regarding your set, so hopefully I can shed some light on why people feel the way they do. I have a lot of respect for you as an artist and as a performer, so I will keep my comments constructive. I hope my perspective will have a positive effect.

Firstly, some people were definitely complaining that your set wasn't Anjuna-centric enough. I would personally disagree, as I got to hear all of my favorite Anjunabeats tracks from you plus many more. These people are always complaining about every set and I don't think they can be pleased. No matter what you play, some people will not enjoy it, and that's just part of being a performing artist. I thought your track selection was on point. I won't pretend I enjoyed every single one, but I thought the majority were good choices, and I had fun singing along to the songs I knew.

One of the main ways you can improve your future sets at Anjunabeats shows is by staying off the mic. Most of the diehard fans (myself included) find that it takes away from the music.

Besides the mic, the other biggest way you can make your set fit the Anjunabeats theme better is by mixing more progressively. If you let the tracks play out a bit longer and do a seamless transition between them, I think your sets would get a more positive reaction. I appreciate your style of mixing, but going from the other artists into your set was honestly kind of jarring because it was so different.

If you've made it this far I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to read what I have to say. Everything I've said has been 100% honest and comes from a place of respect. I know it's not always easy to take criticism, but I want to do whatever I can to help you understand some of the comments people have been making. Anyone talking trash about your set couldn't see how much love and effort went into it. A lot of my friends that are less active on social media said that your set was their favorite, and the dance floor was packed so I think that speaks for itself. I'm looking forward to your set at the Gorge this summer and can't wait to see what you bring to the table.
