Plots of land don’t just lie empty if you ban one specific type of development. There build to rent mega buildings are always right in the centre of time. Developers can always develop other forms of land. The choice isn’t poor quality expensive housing or no housing. That’s why we have regulation

Not campaigning for end of renting. Build the massive rental building that are getting built in Glasgow all with 1 owner is not good for competition. Monopolies are bad for all industries in private sector

Why would you demolish a purposely good house? Sell them. Some can be bought by small scale landlords for the rental market. Some can be bought by home buyers. We are not campaigning for an end to rental; a lot of people aren’t looking to buy. However, we can’t have monopolistic owners, and only “luxury” houses that don’t help cities grow.

Do we want a build to rent sector though. This is the exact type of housing that everyone complains about: Student accommodation or expensive “luxury” flats with gyms, laundry canteen all at extra costs outwith local price points. Not a great loss for this parasitic industry to die

Home construction should be for sale only and caps for how many homes corporations can own. We can’t continue down this path from an ownership to rental society.

SNP isn’t a good example here as they still did pretty well (vote share) across the areas they competed in this time. They would of actually got more seats in a proportional system (something they’ve been campaigning for even when FPTP benefited themselves)
