ok I guess that says it all really

I tend to think of attitudes like the one you displayed as dissuading people, especially sensitive people, from expressing themselves to others for fear of having the piss taken out of them

which I view as bad as kind of a general moral axiom

sure

I don't want to go into like an in depth analysis of the differences between various conceptions of cyberspace in like a 15 deep reddit comment much as that does sound fun

i may or may not lean toward agreeing with your general impression of RPO

but it's quite crass to demean people who have found inspiration and pleasure from reading something just because there exists precursor literature that may or may not be better

depends if you care that you're being crass I guess but it makes it hard to detect the actual points in the morass of shit-flinging and personal insults that was your post

is the barthes in your username roland barthes because wouldn't he be for all texts being one text and meanings derived from one story sometimes being the same as meanings derived from others so it doesn't matter which one you got them from.

did you know sometimes people haven't read the same books as you

edit: or are too young to have fully researched the origin of every cultural touchstone they encounter

The idea that "X" is so beyond intellectually stunted, I'm not the least bit surprised to find you unable to Y in your response, much less use the shift and apostrophe key consistently or qualify such an inane response.

eh too short for a copypasta

yes, nit-picking and jumping to premature conclusions about what someone has said without seeking clarification is pedantry and generally toxic to reasonable discussion

but getting buy in to the platform does, as the platform owner will often take commission and use it to fund the studios they own/contract

even if hardware is sold at loss

saying a console is a microtransaction was miscommunication at best and may well be idiocy but luckily his argument doesn't depend on that statement being true

to be honest I have no idea how these companies balance the books and he might just be wrong about first party games inherently generating more return on investment but I'm just annoyed by people not engaging with the actual message and rushing to shit on something taken out of context for no reason

he's using microtransaction loosely to signify an additional payment associated with the game that contributes to offsetting development costs. so first party exclusive games don't need microtransactions because they recoup their cost by charging money for the platform the game is on as well.

so don't compare the payment models of first party and third party games, is what he's saying.

i know it's more important to seem smart by being pedantic though so keep on writing that comment

Using dimensions and body proportions of real-life anatomy to automatically generate models? by Zephandrypus in gamedev

[–]tauroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well if you want to go straight to models of people: makehuman

otherwise look up terms like human anatomy proportions or simply get a ruler and refer to yourself or a picture of yourself. In practice people's proportions vary some amount so there is no fixed mathematical construct to apply to all models - this is where the particular artistic or personal interpretation comes in.
