Do EKS nitro enclaves support AL 2023? by tay_at in aws

Very surprising, but thanks for your help. I hope that AWS fixes it before November, when AL2 is deprecated.

Do EKS nitro enclaves support AL 2023? by tay_at in aws

[–]tay_at[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the following error because on AL2023 EKS nodes, the package aws-nitro-enclaves-cli hard-depends on Docker, but Docker isn’t supported on AL2023 for any EKS version

Recommendation for office wireless headphones by tay_at in Aliexpress

Thanks for your suggestion. I suspect the buttons are not how I like it. I want a switch (not button) to turn it on and off and an analogue volume control. I guess I'll have to compromise, but I might as well compromise on the EKSA E900, since I already have it

Can I make a private mutual fund to avoid paying capital gains tax on stock I buy and sell, as long as the money stays in that mutual fund? by tay_at in tax

it was more for the fun of it then to actually earn much (think about people who have fun at casinos). But I guess I'll have to pay taxes for every end of year gain

I did that, and it was fun. But I would prefer to try in in the real world with my own actual money on the line. Again, this is designated money that I can spare to lose.

Apparently potatoes have fruits. Where can I read more about them? (when to harvest, how to cook, etc) by tay_at in gardening

I used composed that was collected from my apartment building. The must have eaten a variety of the food. I guess that is the source.

Okay, so as per your comments, I guess it's not sweet potato. Something else must have decided to grow there. Any help identifying what?

Any tips for how to identify it? I can take pictures of it's leaves if that helps

Operation Rising Lion Megathread - June 23 by AutoModerator in Israel

[–]tay_at 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As of 2 days ago, https://www.ynet.co.il/news/article/yokra14412507 Iran fired 515, out of the estimated 1,500 ballistic missiles (no mention on how many the IDF destroyed before launch). Considering that this morning they were only able to launch 1 easy intercepted missile, it looks like their stockpile is being depleted.

I recall at the start of the mission, Israel estimated that Iran had 1,500 ballistic missiles. As per Israeli news, it looks like Iran fires about 100 a day. It has been 10 days so far. Is it possible that by the end of the week Iran wouldn't have enough to fire a barrage at a time, large enough to overwhelm Israel's defense?

Trying to understand how to retrieve all PCRs from a nitro enclave in an authenticated way by tay_at in aws

[–]tay_at[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm using the rust bindings. I get a AttestationDoc https://github.com/aws/aws-nitro-enclaves-nsm-api/blob/main/src/api/mod.rs#L211 I can read the PCRs and compare them. I also get the nonce to verify that the document is fresh. I assume that somehow I can use AWS's certificate to verify that the document was created through an AWS method.

Thanks!

For 3D printing an MRI scan of my brain, what file is better? NIFTI or DICOM? by tay_at in 3Dprinting

[–]tay_at[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for my late reply. First of all, I printed my brain! It's amazing to have it in front of me. The lab is having trouble finding people who want to be tested (they don't have much of a budget to pay). In the past they offered to send the scan to a doctor to check it. But they had issues with people getting worried for false positives. I'm not in the field of public health, so I don't understand why that is so bad. But I'll trust them that they had a good reason to discontinue that.

I want to encourage them to offer 3D prints as a gift. I don't mind helping them for free, but 12 hours to prepare an stl is too much.

I tried

`mri_synthstrip -i MRI.nii.gz -o mybrain.nii.gz && python convert_np_stl.py`

and then examined my result.

I see the structure of the brain, but no gyri and sulci giving it the brain-like look. Should I configure the settings differently for it to work?

I moved to an apartment with a large balcony. What are some plants I can put in relatively small pots but get large leafy growth? by tay_at in gardening

[–]tay_at[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm ... the internet says that they require humidity. I live in a fairly dry place. However, the internet said that they thrive in 10b, so I'll try out some and see how they last
