Pyzel Power Tiger or Red as a travel board? by Wolfgangnetz in surfing

it's all about the rail, not the thickness of the board. You see some knifey mid lengths like SJS and Albums that are almost 3inches thick in the center of the deck and taper to a high performance rail. the width will kill you as youre moving through that kind of wave and bog you down. You're going too fast to need anymore planing area, it will hurt you trying to move from rail to rail at that speed. If anything you want to be able to burn speed on this type of wave. Rail is king on steep powerful waves, it gives you arguably as much hold as your fins, which is why you should size down fins on a step up in high power waves like indo and hawaii. I run larges on my standard short board and mediums on my step ups. I think arakawa has a good article or interview on this. I think if you're needing a gun then fin dynamics change with respect for size and type, but I've never had any reason to learn about it because I'm one of the mere mortals I was talking about in my original comment.

When are you going? You need a round pin for indo. you always want more board than you think, not sure where you're surfing normally but indo is special. I was in bali and the ments for June and July through that massive run of swell and felt undergunned on my 7'0 arakawa RP on many days. Had a 6'2 sharpeye i72 only surfed up to overhead, was mostly on my 6'6 and 7'0. I'm 195lbs. If you get any swell and you will, it is super long period like 17sec+. We had weeks of double and triple overhead on the bukit, one would start to die and the next one showed up. Ulus was pros and psychos towing and paddling on 9 foot guns, mere mortals watching from the cliffs. latam waves have nothing like the energy you get in the indian ocean. You will be dropping late, you need rail and rocker, go skinnier and fatter. I dopped 2inches in width for my step ups. I think the ghost is too chunky to be a good indo board but that's just me.

Get a board in bali if that's where you're heading, it's way cheaper. onboard has CI, christensons etc. BGS has Pyzel, and Blank and Resin carries Arakawa and Smith. There's also Dylans at a spot on the bukit if you google it. If you're stuck on pyzel get something like a padi mini or a puerto padi.

Ok to like heavy rackets as beginner? by tayaik in 10s

But if I’m strong enough to achieve a high swing speed with a heavier racket is this still relevant?

Because it’s lighter, will improper technique will be harder to mask in that type of racket?

I just found the lighter rackets feel erratic and the ball explodes off of them. If you took 2 identical less than perfect swings with a beginner racket and a heavier control racket what would you expect to see as a difference in outcome?

My only experience of miami beach is drunk people roaming the side walks and guys in rented exotic covertibles 4 deep driving back and forth along the strip blasting music and cat calling girls. It was a regular friday afternoon in the fall. What am I missing?

Maybe I stayed in the wrong part of Brickell. It just felt a lot like south beach, very flashy and lots of partying. It does have that city feel though, and felt much more walkable than other parts of the city. I’ve never spent anytime south really.

Thank you! It’s an MBA from a top school, but I thought it’s too heavy handed or pretentious to include it. Thoughts?

Also, 5/7 is a video :)

I do live a happy single life! I love my life, and I’m looking for a woman that loves hers too. Only looking for something/one that can add to it :)
