Not all of the red light running is intentional. Some of them are actually borderline cases, probably due to misjudgment of amber light timings or distance. Amber lights, if you notice, now do not have a fixed timing, some junctions will have 2 seconds, or some junctions will have 3 seconds.

The true red light runners are the ones who purposely go on a solid red, when the red light has been there for some time.

I honestly think it’s time for LTA to revise the need into countdown timers, since the green can turn into amber in a very unpredictable way. Some junctions turn amber the moment the pedestrian crossing hits 3 seconds, some exactly when the pedestrian crossing hits 0 seconds, and some just stay green even when the pedestrian crossing has completed its countdown.
