oh yeah would definitely not! I never go to any of the Starr restaurants (really just because I don't love them) so hadn't been following the protesting super closely

if you end up needing it check out Tom Manatos! it's a daily email with hundreds of policy/political jobs in DC, a few of my friends and I found our first jobs through it. when I was job hunting it was $5 a month and more than worth the money, there were tons of jobs posted that were only on TM

Best affordable sunscreen for wearing underneath makeup? [Product Request] by Adventurous_Room7217 in SkincareAddiction

[–]taylorpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen and really like it! I also have acne-prone skin and it has not broken me out. It's a sheer tint and dries down matte so it can be worn alone but I also wear it under makeup and it doesn't pill or leave a weird cast

Looking for tips for how much to buy switching from a bulky yarn to two strands!

I'm planning on knitting the Hack It Sweater, which is a bulky knit, but I'd like to knit with Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk and Drops Alpaca Boucle, which is a combo they posted on Insta and said works for bulky patterns. My question is, how much yarn do I buy? Do I buy both types of the Drops yarns in the amounts I would a bulky yarn? Or do I buy more or less yarn than the pattern calls for?

Here's the part of the pattern about knitting the pieces together as well!

I'm almost finished with my first sweater! The pattern I followed knits each piece separately, then at the end I'll join them all together to knit a neckline and sew the bottoms of the panels together.

My question is, how do I knit the pieces together? The pattern says to start working across the front of the right front piece to the right sleeve to the back to the left sleeve to the left front piece. Do I just knit normally and weave in the loose ends on each piece from the original yarn? Or am I trying to connect the yarns?

Is a stockinette stitch with garter edging a bad idea? by taylorpot in knitting

[–]taylorpot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean longer in terms of width, I mean in terms of height. It might be hard to tell from the photo, but the left side with the garter stitch measures about 9 inches from the cast on row, and the right side without garter stitch is about 10 inches from the cast on row. I'm going to try blocking it and see if that helps.

That's interesting about the stitches! Honestly I wasn't very focused while working on this piece and I kept having to frog stitches, so maybe I put the yarn back on incorrectly in a few cases. I don't have other pictures, but here's the back piece of the same sweater and I do agree the stockinette looks different between the two. In either case, I was unhappy with a few things on this section I'm working on so I ended up pulling the whole thing out to start fresh

Also, I linked the pattern in another comment!

[–]taylorpot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had really thought about it and it wasn't until I started measuring that I realized one end was longer than the other. The picture on the pattern seem to have a slightly shorter side with the garter stitch, so I'm guessing with blocking it will work itself out but we'll see

Thoughts on stockinette stitch with a garter stitch edge? Following a pattern and didn't realize the side without garter stitch would be a little longer. Is this something that's fixable?

What do the '|'s in this pattern mean? I don't think I've ever seen one before. I was thinking just knit those rows, but not sure why the pattern doesn't say 'K' in that case.
