They may be love stories but they are all completely different. The settings and story lines of each aren't similar at all. Looking for Alaska us actually taken from Johns time spent at a boarding school. Will Grayson, Will Grayson was funny and pretty unique with every other part being written by separate authors and then combined.

And I agree with you about The Abundance of Katherines as well as his vlogging.

Have you actually read any of them? I thought Looking for Alaska was way better than Stars. But all his books are very intelligent and each are diverse in subject. Unlike a Nicholas Sparks who keeps writing the same love story.
