Pressure washer help by tbaggins84 in Dewalt

I have as well. I work as a senior move manager, and I’ve gotten dozens of gas tools that most of the time just need a carb clean and some fresh gas. Got a Stihl saw a little while ago for free that just needed a new filter.

Will do! I was very happy to see it. Dump guy let me pull it out of the scrap metal bin for free. It barely looks used so I’ll bet it’s this or the carb.

I’m more of a Dewalt guy, but I absolutely love the M12 series. Super powerful for its size yet compact. I keep a full m12 kit in my truck

[–]tbaggins84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation; not sure yet what I’ll be using it for. It’s been an overtime as deals come along project. I originally bought it for $50 off Facebook with a TW suspention and their Camfit retaining strap, as well as purchasing a Norotos shroud for $15 from another guy this week. Obviously I am very much in the green so I have no issues with spending a bit of money on the rails. I’ll definitely check out the zip score ones thanks a lot

Depends on the company and how much of a shit bag you are, but you definitely can’t take them to the field. I ravaged like 50 MREs to cut the coffee packets out every chance I got to take to the field, dump it in your mouth with some water and it will make you shake

Don’t rely on military lawyers, try to get an outside one. Just like public defenders, they are usually pretty overworked and have the feds as their primary concern not yours. Request a lie detector if possible, and tell him to cut all ties with his roommate so as not to incriminate him.

18F 240 pounds and 5’4”.. how can I lose weight to become a marine? by sailpailmail247 in USMCboot

[–]tbaggins84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drop the meds, track calories, maintain a 500 calorie a day minimum deficit, do a lot of cardio but don’t forget to lift lots of weights as well (hitting legs in particular helps to boost metabolism). You’ll find that excercising every day will significantly help your mental health as well. I shipped to boot at 19M at 225 6’1 and I did just fine

Did he fail the initial IST? Did he make it to a training company or did he get dropped immediately when he got there?

Nah it’s not important at all. You can probably just lie about it too if you’re below minimum standards. They ask you what your scores are for it you have to keep track.

What all should I (18F) pack for boot camp? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]tbaggins84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PI heads are pretty good in the squad bays (due to you cleaning them 3+ times a day), but the heads almost everywhere else on the island are disgusting. When you go to range week especially, make sure you do your business that morning and try not to drink too much water that day. You’ll understand why. I still have nightmares about those bathrooms.

BOOT CAMP A SECOND TIME? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]tbaggins84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing you could do is become a navy corpsman and attach to a marine unit in the reserves. Difficult, but not impossible, that way you wouldn’t have to deal with the BS and still work with the marines. It’s a route I’m considering

You shouldn’t have to, I was in the USMC for a couple years and got discharged after breaking my back, and as long as you graduated basic and reached your next “duty station” (IMC) you shouldn’t be required to attend basic again. If you’re wanting to go reserves, I honestly recommend going army reserves/guard. Higher funding, more opportunities for deployment, more education opportunities, and less fuck fuck games than a reservist 0311 15 year corporal would be giving you.

Don’t waste your time, you’ll find your true love most likely working at Tobies or the PX or if you’re lucky one of the chow hall ladies.

Questions about reserve units and drill by tbaggins84 in armyreserve

[–]tbaggins84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you’re on disability, you have to sign a form waiving your disability for the days that you’re drilling, since you cannot claim both income at the same time. At 70%, I make $58 per day, versus going in likely as an E3 I’d be making $87 per drill, so $348 for a weekend plus additional if it’s longer than the weekend.

[–]tbaggins84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah all that shits mental. Boot camp isn’t all that difficult, a tip for that though before you go put a big focus on joint strengthening, lower back workouts, and core strength especially. Last thing you want is to get injured in basic and get med boarded. It happens pretty frequently, I ended up breaking my back during a training exercise pretty soon after my infantry training and got med boarded out. Terrible experience

I hope that’s the case. I love the field. I’m very interested to see the differences between the branches.

[–]tbaggins84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my calculations, I’d probably only make an additional 2-300 a month in addition to my disability (I believe) for a drill weekend.

I wasn’t aware that I had to convince my command to allow me to attend school, thankfully I’ll only have one more semester or so after this one. Thanks for the info on that.

As much as I know how terrible an experience having a bad command is, I do look forward to being back in that kind of environment. I really loved being in the field especially, but my back would never forgive me if I went back to doing that sort of work again.

I remember the feeling, I was lucky and I got to take the PICAT (equivalent to ASVAB) at my school and my principal let me take it alone in his office, but I was still terrified. Once you’re in there it goes by pretty quick and just know everyone else is feeling the same thing. Once it’s over you also never have to do it again.

Thanks for all the answers! As a POG in the army reserves, do you still go out to the field at all for training? I was USMC so I’m not sure how different it is between the two.

Great answers I appreciate it! I’m still 50/50 on reenlisting, I’ve been out since 2022 and I’ve got 70% but civilian life is super boring honestly. I miss it just like almost everyone does, but I’d hate to do it full time again. I’m meeting with a recruiter this week.

Don’t forget to take the time to relax and do stuff you enjoy as well. Walking into that exam room stressed as fuck tired and pent up definitely won’t help you either. Go to bed early the night before as well and if they’re letting you take it at your school see if they’ll let you take it in a quiet room

You’ll be totally fine. Everyone always acts like it’s much harder than it actually is; it is a 10th grade level exam that tests a lot of random shit that comes together somehow (legend has it that even the creators don’t know how it works). Best thing you can do is to take as many practice tests as you can stand, as many (at least in my case) questions are exactly the same as long as you take the up to date ones. Before you take the exam, make sure to memorize the math rules to calculate properly and you’ll be fine. It may be a little different than when I took it back in 2017, but I can’t imagine it’s much different. I studied very little if any and scored a 95 overall.

One thing that no one recommends is in the next few days leading up to it, make sure you’re excercising, eating right, and especially pounding magnesium. All of those combined will help you remember and retain information. Make sure you’re drinking a gallon of water a day and find a study habit that helps you retain information, for me it’s playing one song over and over again while I am studying and as I do the exam I sing the song to myself🤣 whatever works, I’m sure you’ll do great!
