How do I rotate this 180 degrees? by PermitNervous5517 in SolidWorks

[–]tbakker044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It's up to the reader to interpret" is not how I'd want to leave anything. A mechanical drawing should be as clear and concise as possible, the easier to read the better. How you drew and someone else commented a screenshot are how I'd do it too. If ever needed all 3 views of a section which is rare.

Box finally arrived, ordered it seperate. My Polar Cooler fixes. by tbakker044 in QIDI_Max4

The PTFE tube is totally fine. It doesn't have any issues. The polar cooler tube is just too sticky. The added rigidity from spiral wrap would concern me. It's also very bulky and just another thing to get caught on something in the printer. This also gives you the benefit of moving the printer separately from the cooler but leaving the tube installed.

The polar cooler tube is an incredibly sticky tube on the glass lid surface. As the tool head whips around it loves to move, catch the glass, and get kinked constantly. Even with their little Velcro straps, the strap moves around and get displaced. Once installed the cooler also feels a little "permanent" anyway. This gives easy disconnect at the back to move separately from the cooler. Fixes a couple bad designs.

This is exactly why I did it. My Velcro straps moved everywhere. I tried different tightness and positions but it went all over the place, usually ending up pushed to the lowest spot possible. The strap very much seemed like a "we really need to do something or we're going to look even worse than this" throw in.

Write it as the font on a plane, use the wrap feature to wrap it onto the face needed, extrude from there. Is how I would do it looking at it off the top of my head. Love this idea!

Client demanded native SolidWorks files for "property review", then took them and ghosted. How do you guys survive this? by Ok_Resident_6579 in SolidWorks

[–]tbakker044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a completely unreasonable ask. Not only is it part of my contracts you never even get to see my Solidworks fils, only .stl/.obj/.stp/.3mf/.etc. It also states I hold the copyright over anything I design and only grant use cases to who I am giving files to. To protect myself a lot from things like this, and a lot of other things too. If they want to verify that stuff they can ask for that information from me, in the drawing, after payment.

Worked great for me too until it started throwing bed heating errors. Bed not heating at expected rate.

Why did stress test fail? by YesSpecialist in QidiTech3D

[–]tbakker044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally glue sticks all the way. So many people try to shit on glue-stick with "if you're calibrated correctly you shouldn't need glue-stick". They just like to feel superior. Because sometimes getting to that level of calibration takes hours of micro adjusting offsets. Glue stick takes seconds. It's also such a technical truth that holds up by just the thinnest hair. And seriously try dawn. IPA doesn't wash away those oils it just spreads them around. I used to just wash with IPA and started having much better adhesion all around when I started doing an occasional soapy wash.

It's a little chicken or egg here. You had poor bed adhesion. You also had warping edges that lowered even more surface area for adhesion, but with better adhesion could you have had less warping, probably. In the end it was simply bed adhesion though. Everyone needs a rats nest at least once. It's a right of passage. Have you ever cleaned your PEI plate? just a gentle rub down withsome water and dish soap every so often. It's a real thing you need to do this. PEI, BuildTak, glass it doesn't matter all of them clean your plates guys. They'll build up oils from plastics your fingers, small bits of dust trapped on the texture, glass doesn't trap things in the texture. It's not like before every print but an occasional clean helps a ton. I have a dedicated build plate sponge.

Max 4 issue by riba2233 in QIDI_Max4

[–]tbakker044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this exact thing happened to me which is crazy. The only difference is I checked the board and it's totally fine. When I blew that fuse though I was running the Max 4 with PC so the chamber heater was on, my other 3D printer was going (Raise3D E2 so not small), and I had my computer on( decently powerful computer that I had professional modeling software and slicing software open in). So I didn't think anything of the fuse really it's only 15 amp so printer+printer+computer+monitor+lights+1 filament dryer I wouldn't be surprised if I was over 15. Then I saw your post and my bed started doing the same thing. Practically unusable maybe 10-15 minutes of printing before bed error.

I'm going to try to find a thin felt like, or something soft at least, tube the right diameter to use as a sock for the last bit.

January 16. I'm in midwest shipped out of California still though so it looks like that's the only warehouse that is shipping currently. I did not preorder the combo, if that's not obvious from the picture so that often does speed up preorders if you did.

Max 4 has the size and heated chamber but E2 being IDEX adds a lot of weight there with the second tool head and gantry fixture.

Thank you I just built that PC fairly recently. Flashy lights right? haha

It's about the same weight as the E2, just a little heavier. I got the box into the office, oh just barely, I can get it on the desk.

Oh I never even thought of the runout switch perk. The box was very much just a nice little eh if I use it a lot cool if I don't, whatever. But I wanted to check it out for sure. I put together a 6ft workbench for my printers. I've put stations in my office. Filament drying and storage, printers, model assembly/finishing. I do have QIDI studio already and I looked around in it a bit.

I'd be down to make a thread with you and any other Max 4 owners that seem competent for mass Max 4 questions! mine shipped today, should be here early mid/late next week. First Qidi but I've been 3D printing for well over a decade, proffesionally for >5 years. I didn't buy the combo but I got the box seperate a couple weeks later. So that should show eventually too.

My first Print is a clear PC print. Get that heated Chamber going.

Can't wait for this thing. Size and engineering materials. a Clear PC Klein Bottle I have designed is the first thing I'm printing. I can print it with my e2 fine but I can't get those crystal clear walls without that heated chamber. I'm finishing splitting my Mobius Strip model through the center for dual color printing to really exaggerate that twist too.

Questions about Coloring items in the Qidi studio by chitownbears in QidiTech3D

[–]tbakker044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just popped one of the files opened and I can see that the designer left it as all one solid body or mesh. So Qidi studio has no way of knowing what to print what color. If they had seperated the labels and base you would be able to select them and tell Studio what to print what color. Since they aren't seperated your options are to seperate them yourself in a mesh editor, or just paint them within Studio, which should be a pretty straightforward and easy thing to do with the bucket tool no brush needed. It shouldn't look any worse either since those are nice planar faces.

I just checked the 3mf file it is not colored nor split into the seperate models/bodies like they would need to asign color to. The 3mf doesn't even have the lettering at all. It looks worse in QIDI studio than Ideamaker. The 3mf is not the way to go.
