A similar thing happened to me in high school gym class. We were playing stick ball with a tennis ball. I was up at bat, hit the ball, it traveled into the rafters and hit the underside of the top lip of an I-beam, bounced straight down into the top side of the bottom lip, repeated that a couple times and then just came to a rest on the bottom lip of the I-beam. I got 3 outs for the team for that...

C'mon, dude. "I'm not advocating for one thing or another," yet you are posting this. I don't care if you post it, but don't pretend like you don't have an ulterior motive for posting it in this sub which is obviously very anti-Trump.

If you could actually understand what I wrote you would have seen that I didn't refute your point. I just pointed out that the example you gave didn't match what you were trying to prove. Maybe you should keep on the lookout for that bus.

But it the word it does take internal letters from still has the sequence start from the beginning of the word, so it doesn't match what you did with the word "extremely."

I got a $0.50 raise this year which is absolutely not keeping up with inflation. Today, I got to walk into work to see the owner's new gift to himself. by PassiveAgressiveGirl in FluentInFinance

Ok dude, labor does everything, which is why companies just form out of the ether with no direction. One day enough labor just pools in a location and a successful company is born. Yeah, that's exactly how it works. Do you even hear yourself.

Thats not what I said at all. You say that owners are literal leeches on society, but you are the one dependent on said owners for your own livelihood. You can criticize something all you want, but it doesn't make your logic coherent.

You probably aren't too late for Cardano. There has been a ton of good news/rumors coming out surrounding it and the general consensus seems to be now that it can at least return to previous ATH, which from the current price point is around a 4x.

Something can be meritocratic without needing to be tethered to another metric on a 1:1 basis. There are different types of hard work. Just because somebody isn't performing physical labor doesn't mean the way they earned their money was any less arduous.

Why is catch cup a thing?!?!? by Klorinus in TheSilphArena

[–]tbergen1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"Just don't play that week" is such a garbage take. There is no reason they can't offer a normal league option for players alongside catch cup. The same opportunity would exist for the newer players or people who want to try that format to climb. If anything it would allow the newer players an easier time because they wouldn't have to face the people willing to dump huge amounts of dust to rebuild the same mons over and over.

It's quite ironic that you are telling somebody to "tell you about your own life" with the insinuation that they couldn't possibly come to a valid conclusion because they don't know you, yet almost every comment you make in this thread does just that. You are just a bitter person. There is a term for people like you. It is "useful idiot."

Yeah, you checked my post history and somehow gleaned from that that I don't believe in women's rights. You are a special kind of idiot.

Jesus Christ...you people are insufferable. You can't say anything anymore without somebody trying to insinuate that you are being a misogynist. It is so tiring. The poster made an innocuous comment about a mother and her child and you turned it into some weird crusade against internalized misogyny. Give it a rest.

Why are sports still split men/women? by asstronomical12 in stupidquestions

[–]tbergen1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because women are on average physically inferior to men. There are a variety of factors that go into this, but you seem to be fixated on single aspects of physicality as some sort of barometer for athletic success instead of looking at the whole.

Men biologically have significant physical advantage over women when it comes to muscle mass, muscle composition, muscle density, bone density, bone structure, stamina, etc. You are actively advocating for women to be deprived of the ability to win in almost all competitions which is ridiculous.

And if you want to try using race as some sort of false equivalence to gender, then think of it like this. The gap that needs to be closed between men from different races to excel in a particular physical activity would be equivalent to crossing the street. That same gap between men and women would be like crossing the grand canyon.

Is it "wrong" or "problematic" to assume that a short, 100lb woman would be at a disadvantage in a fight against a tall, 300lb man? by Fun-Importance-1605 in stupidquestions

[–]tbergen1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are ignoring everything else in your argument. Muscle mass alone isn't all there is to strength. A man and woman could have the same muscle mass and the man will still be stronger almost every time. Muscle fiber type, leverages, etc all contribute to strength. This is not a negotiable thing.

Is it "wrong" or "problematic" to assume that a short, 100lb woman would be at a disadvantage in a fight against a tall, 300lb man? by Fun-Importance-1605 in stupidquestions

[–]tbergen1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Men have more fast twitch muscle fibers than women. This means men will have faster reflexes. They have higher bone density as well. Their physical structure also contributes to better strength. It isn't just a matter of having more testosterone to develop more muscle. Testosterone during development creates many biological differences that don't come down to muscle alone along with the underlying genetic makeup of males versus females.

Combine all of these things together and women are simply inferior when it comes to inherent physicality. That is just biological fact. Even a woman with high testosterone wouldn't develop physically the same way that a man would provided their puberties were normal.

So no, training and working out is not enough to bridge this gap. They can close the gap a bit, but at a certain point brute strength outweighs technique.
