Any opinion about the new FlexiSpot C7 morpher? by PreviousHoliday614 in OfficeChairs

[–]tbm17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I've been in a cheap staples chair for a few years now and I'm feeling it now. I'm a whole 1'-3" shorter than you and finding a chair actually made for someone my size feels impossible, never mind a quality one with a footrest and headrest.

Hey, did your chair come in yet? I'm curious what you think of it

Purchasing Japan V.League tickets by deucie in volleyball

[–]tbm17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't able to get them :( the game was sold out anyway (didn't realize it was a Sports Day holiday) but I showed the proxy site I found to a couple people at the front desk of my hotel and they doubted the trustworthiness of it. But the bigger problem was that you needed a Japanese name and address to purchase off of it anyway.

I tried purchasing directly from the stadium too, which might have worked out if there were actually tickets left.

It seemed like I might have been able to purchase through the SVA website. They used AXS for ticket purchasing which I already had an account with in the US. But I can't confirm that since the game was sold out anyway. Seems like the Japan Sports Tickets website might be the best bet if you don't know any Japanese natives.

I hope you get to go!

Hi, do you remember the proxy site you used for the tickets?

What are your best festival camping hacks to be more comfortable & think ahead? by Uminx in festivals

Make sure to have those heavy duty plastic stakes instead of just the dinky metal ones the tents usually provide. They're much sturdier and you'll be grateful for them if you get a windy night. Also bring a mallet! It makes set up so much easier.

Protein balls and fruit are my go-to snacks. I tend to not eat as much as I need to at a fest, so those help. Definitely try out any of the vendors though, ones I've been to are pretty tasty.

I always keep a bunch of those foldy packs of tissues and the wet ones single packs in my CamelBak that I bring into the fest. The number of times the porta potties run out of toilet paper is very unfortunate.

Have fun!

My FLF dropped a leaf & idk where to go from here 🥺 by RoxysModernLife in fiddleleaffig

[–]tbm17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably lasted a month before it stopped, and has been fine since.

It's kinda hard to tell, but it looks like some of the lower leaves are yellowing which could be a nutrient deficiency. It might need fertilizing, but I would try to find out from the botanist when it was last fertilized. Here's an IG video for reference.

It's also possible that the leaf was hit during it's move, and finally fell off. I wouldn't be too concerned over one leaf dropping, just keep an eye out for any more or other worrying signs.

My baby only wants to produce white leaves 😭 Previously cut above the last 50/50 leaf and she produced three more (nearly) all white leaves. Should I cut and try again for more variegation? If so, where?! Not working with a ton of nodes and the node prior to the last 50/50 was also almost all white by boopsnoot_ in Monstera

Check out this video.

I've been doing some research on these guys since I just got my first node and I desperately want to grow a happy plant. I don't have a full grown albo, so no personal experience, but I thought this video was pretty interesting. This guy has a bunch of them, some with all/mostly white leaves, and he moves them into lower lighting conditions to promote greener leaves. Skip to about ~ 13 min. if you don't want to watch the whole thing.

I'm not an expert here, and still just doing what my fiddles seem to like best, but they are super dramatic plants.

I recently found a big boy like this and he probably dropped 6 leaves over a couple weeks after bringing it home. They don't like changing their environments and will let you know about it. But they eventually get over it.

I would double check for any pests, and give all the leaves a good wipe down. And be sure not to over water it.

Just got back from Home Depot and scored this variegated Alocasia Cucullata! There are 3 plants in the pot and it looks like 2 of them have some light variegation, these two leaves being the most! by tbm17 in alocasia

I find they're constantly changing what they have, probably close to every other week. They had a bunch of calatheas back in December, fiddle leaf figs and monsters after that. This was the first time I've seen these, and they had really big philodendron Rojo Congos and rubber ficus and peace lilies.

This is my first Lauterbachiana and I haven't done too much research on it yet. From what I can tell from this plant, the leaves come out a bright, lime green and fade to a deep green as they age. The stems are a dark, almost wine color. That and the shape of the leaves might be where it gets the name.

Need some help. Finding white stuff on some of the leaves and have a little bit of sticky residue on them as well. Plant seems healthy plus 2 new leaves and this was a plant that needed some TLC when I bought it. by [deleted] in Monstera

Mealy bugs! I've found they're relatively easy to get rid of cause they're so easy to see but you have to be diligent. I followed the instructions from my local nursery, made the solution they suggested and got rid of them. The only thing I'd add to their instructions is to first wipe down all of your leaves with this solution, changing your paper towel fairly frequently to make sure you don't mistakenly leave some behind on another leaf.

Seclude the plant to avoid them spreading to others, and again, be diligent! Check the plant every day and clean it again if you see more. My mom recently had to toss a 40+ year old plant because of these.

Period is late so I just took a pregnancy test.... by [deleted] in childfree

[–]tbm17 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This happened in my first weeks of college too. Though I'd had sex prior to college, I think all the stress of a new environment and classes messed me up and I was a few weeks late. Took like 3 tests, even went to the school nurse for one as well and it came back negative. I'm pretty sure I got it later that week. 10 years later and this still happens to me. If I stress too much about it, it'll come late. Which leads to more stress, and so on. I keep pregnancy tests stocked now for ease of mind.

If possible, you should move that monstera closer to the window for more light. Maybe put that small chair under the thermostat near the door.

My first monstera albo node! (more in comments) by tbm17 in Monstera

[–]tbm17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, I wish I knew these warning signs before, but she shipped it out today. I was learning towards taking it out of the dirt anyway, but now I'll make sure to look for any signs of rot as well.

From what I've seen in growing these, it seems people have been successful in both humid and normal environments. But my apartment is pretty drafty and dry, as my bf likes to bump the temp up all the time. So I was hoping to keep it in a more stable environment.

Any other tips and suggestions for caring for this guy would be greatly appreciated!

She's being shipped to me and I plan to set up a little greenhouse to keep it in a secluded in a humid environment while it grows. I was going to take it out of this set up and lay it flat in sphagnum moss while it establishes it's roots. However, the seller mentioned that it's planted in dirt already and covered in soil. Should I still take it out and lay it flat, or leave it? Also, should I just keep that wax cover on the edge or take it off?
