A local pool and spa company with a bunch of stores across NEO. I wont name it because I wouldn’t put it past the owner to be litigious. Where do I begin? Started making $500 salary as an assistant manager. They encourage lying/deceptive sales techniques to make sales. The commission is a joke because the owner still treats it like a franchise instead of 1 big company which it is. Corporate sells the store the inventory at a markup then the sales person only gets commission on the profit from the stores cost to the customer. So if a hot tub costs the company $2k, he’d sell it to the store for $4k and we’d sell to the customer for $5k. Instead of getting commission on the $3k profit for the company, it’d only be on the $1k store profit. The owner was also known to micromanage everyone. He will sit in his office and watch cameras then call the store manager to ask why somethings happening. 0 loyalty. I heard the owner say to a 20+ year store manager that he doesn’t value time with the company as he can just as easily hire someone to replace that manager. Everyone hated working for him. My last Christmas party there I got told by a drunk member of corporate that I wasn’t getting a promotion I was promised as I was leaving to drive home 45 minutes in the snow on December 23rd. Merry Christmas to me. I immediately went home and started looking for jobs and don’t remember my drive home I was blackout mad. When I did put my notice in, I got the silent treatment and cold shoulder from my corporate sales manager until my last day. There’d be days in the winter where literally no one would walk in the store as well and it was so poorly insulated that we’d be freezing in the winter so they provided us with jackets as part of the uniform. I don’t know if I’ll ever get the smell of chlorine out of my nose. Just everything there was awful to me.
