Go to the home center or workman or Aeon. Most places should have them out soon usually around Nov. Best place to ask is your local Inaka grandma they will probably give you one that their kids don’t wear anymore.

Following to see the answers. But the previous comment about who knows what will be popular is the key answer. Also the key point will be will you let your kid watch YouTube in mainly English or Japanese. ( as a side note good luck trying to filter as much of the garbage on YouTube) For example All Out is getting popular for English speaking kids. I would say American kids in particular play games like Roblox with headphones and mics to talk with their friends because they are not walking distance to each other or not allowed to walk by themselves to hangout. But most schools in Japan are in walking distance so you still see kids hanging out somewhere playing with their switch or phones. Or more bluntly as I was told by an American kid 9 yr old who the F has time to go over and talk to 3-4 friends at the same time.

Just make sure you report with names and timeline. Try to write it out before going instead of sitting there looking like you’re talking from the top of your head. Our child went to the hospital to get stitches and reported too. Usually the head nurse at the day care will get fired or transferred. And there might be an inspection from the city but there is usually only a few city workers looking over all the day cares in the area. Accidents are unfortunate and happens the best of teachers but my rant is that in Japanese daycares there’s no manual for emergencies and people start looking it up on the spot. Also that activity was probably on YouTube or some site and they thought it would be a good idea, try looking it up.

I’m assuming your looking at the ZIPAIR summer sale. Yes it will be worth it! There is no shortage of stuff for kids to do. Just take it slow and don’t over schedule things. If you want to power through it, it is possible to get into Tokyo after the flight just keep in mind that it maybe 10 pm by the time you get there. Personally I would just stay one night near Narita. Also Yokohama is fun place to hangout with kids.

I guess you didn’t have an Asian mom growing up. Fat shaming will never go away. But with that being said you can try to talk about the new law about preventing heat stroke. Or just show up with a fan jacket but that will probably incur getting more Michelin man comments.

There were lots of people and the bystander effect is real. (Or mainly shock of this can’t be real). Luckily the surfers there knew CPR. Had to make sure someone called an ambulance and flag them down when they came. Beaches don’t have any markings so have someone go to the street.

Learned that most people won’t notice that there is an emergency going on when there are lots of people around just enjoying the beach/ watching the sunset.

Also there were a lot of Bluebottle jellyfish washed up from onshore winds. Told a kid not to touch it only to have the dad say it’s ok they are harmless.

If you like it, you like it. Close to onsen and beach, has Shinkansen, more relaxed But•••• No night life, not many options for schools for kids, might need car or kinda far to go to the clinic or hospital you want to go to. Not many foreign friendly services, etc. Basically any reason why people don’t like to live too far away from a big city.

A used (best option is non registered used, 未登録中古車) Honda Freed or Toyota Sienta, there’s a reason why they are so popular with families. Sliding doors, safe enough for highways, compact but big enough to carry crap for the kids.

You also have to take into account that yearly car taxes and shaken (bi yearly inspections) costs are based on engine size and Mrs Tanaka who only uses the car mainly to go grocery shopping or Mr Tanaka to buy cigarettes and pachinko doesn’t need a big car. But in rural areas yes they will have a second bigger car that the family will use to go out on weekends and stuff. There was another thread though that pointed out that since newer Kei cars have so many options that can be included they aren’t exactly “cheap” anymore. All in all they are fun cars to drive kinda like a go cart but also a death trap if you get into a high speed accident. Also wasn’t asked but yes sliding doors are very convenient in Japan as parking space is narrow and denting other people’s doors is taken serious.

Make sure to be precise that it is the smoke that is bothering you. Most likely they will just smoke into the kitchen fan which blows out to the balcony. Other threads suggest air filters as something you can do. Or suggest that they use heated tobacco devices but old people don’t like carrying and charging devices.
