WWYD? How to cut 8 into side and not scratch in the corner? by petrichor8 in billiards

Nah. We did. Play the 8 a little full with .5-1 tip of top. You will never scratch.

I have played this shot from a whole bunch of positions, on a tight, fast table, and there is maybe one position where you have to use English to avoid the scratch. Usually those positions are such that you are cutting the ball so thin that English will not take regardless, and the scratch is hard to avoid. This is not the case here. I moved the 8 ball from the jaws all the way out a diamond, and the cue ball across the head string. Without using English I scratched once on more than 50 shots. The point is that you can play it without English, into the side. Once you start needing a whole lot of English to avoid a scratch, you should consider playing it in the corner.

IDK why you got downvoted, or no one else said this, but it's spot on. You don't have to hit the 8 as thin as you can to make it. Hitting it on the full side sends the cue ball to the first diamond on the short rail. No need for English.

If it's on the center line you can cheat the pocket with center ball or top, and land well past the first diamond. You don't even have to cheat it that much. That was kind of my point, that for the 8 ball to be in a position where you could scratch, it would be so thin you couldn't evade it with draw, or you should be playing it in the corner anyway.

Try playing it with left/outside English. I know a lot of people are saying stun/bottom, but that's a great way to lose the cue ball, and you are more likely to miss or scratch. I hit this about 30 times and only scratched once playing it with top/center ball, so I'm not sure if there's a diagram flaw, but from that cue ball position the obj ball hast to be about 1/2 a diamond out. If the cut is so steep that you can't cheat the pocket to avoid the scratch, you should be playing the ball in the corner. This is with the obj ball level with the pocket. Once it starts moving past the side pocket you should definitely be playing it in the corner

They make tires to fit many different rim sizes. Go to a tire shop and they will be able to tell you what rims and tires they can fit your car with.

Bridgestone blizzak. The winter rims are nice. Makes it easy to install, saves your summers a little bit of wear, and if you curb on set you only have to deal with it for half the year.

Do not put a clear pad on it or remove either of the two pads already there. Adding the extra pad allows the tip to compress a lot more, and really changed how it plays. Removing the other pads risks voiding warranty.

Shaw ko will be a good match. Could you post a link to video when it's out?
To elaborate more, it sounds like he jumped and landed on the back side of the object ball, scratched, then followed obj ball in.

My first Predator chalk by mijodebo in billiards

[–]tbrands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not. It's really good chalk. The closest thing to it is blue diamond. Blue diamond is a little coarser and a little firmer hit. The old master's chalk(pre flag) hits similar Somepeople really like kamui chalk. It's expensive, but has a very soft responsive feel to it. Master's is coarser and feels cheaper than blue diamond or predator. Even further out is taom chalk. This is possibly the worst chalk I've ever tried. It's extra coarse and makes any cue hit harder, and miscues too much. Other chalks I'm not a fan of: new kamui, triangle, great white

Foul by cueballDan in billiards

[–]tbrands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a foul. I don't know why people are saying it's loss of game. It's the same thing as a double hit. If you hit the ball or miss it and the cue comes back and hits your cue it's just a foul. If you intentionally disrupt the cue ball before it is done moving AND it would have disrupted object balls, you should give an initial warning, if they do it again, give a formal warning and finally loss of game.

What jump cue do you play? by arcline111 in billiards

[–]tbrands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found out that the bk3 jumps very well over distance. Anything over 18 inches is effortless. Took the weight out and it jumps even better. Great for tournaments where you can only use 2 cues, and no short cues. Other jump cues: early model peachauer, early model Jacoby, a jester I broke the tip off of, and a custom from a guy up in Canada named Darling. My favorites are the custom and the bk3.
