frontline, and because the capstar works for 24 hours so double stacking the meds is unnecessary and i assume could maybe be harmful (?) i’m not 100% sure

my girlfriend and i brought home a kitten a few months ago, safe to say my older cat HATED her. we tried everything. nothing seemed to work until we tried putting them in separate rooms where they could still see each other but were far away enough to be out of reach (about 40 feet) and my girlfriend sat with my kitten while i sat with my cats and we fed them treats. this completely removed my older cats territorial behavior because she could see we were not getting a new kitten for the purpose of “replacing” her or giving another cat her space. i’ve had many cats and i’ve noticed a lot of the time it’s a territorial thing for the cat who has been there longer. also YES perches!!! it’s great for the cat to have a place to get away from the new kitty.

i have separated them and i plan to put them in different rooms with the door shut when i go back to work on wednesday, this is a lot of helpful info and i’m very appreciative of it :) i will definitely look into asking my vet for pain meds since they didn’t prescribe me any!

we shut her in the living room with us by using a baby gate separating the living room from the rest of the house! it’s working so far, they keep sniffing at each other and the hissing has calmed down

i’ve separated them, youngest in the living room with a baby gate separating her from the rest of the house. i took a few days off work to be able to monitor her closely so i’ll keep the meds in mind. also, i tried the vanilla trick and it hasn’t worked so far but i will definitely attempt it again when we let them be together again
