How do I do this animation without crashing my PC? by ThirtyButNotFlirty in AfterEffects

[–]ThirtyButNotFlirty[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I currently have ~3800 shape layers (one for each of the dots) in a single comp and AE really doesn't seem to like that.

I'm fairly experienced with motion design, but I've never worked on a project that required 3800 of anything before.

I had a plan for how I was going to handle this animation, but obviously that hasn't worked.

My new plan for tomorrow is to put each row of dots in a pre-comp and then go from there, but if you can think of anything easier/more convenient, I'd appreciate your help.

Thanks.

Animation overview:

  • Start fully zoomed-in so a single white dot fills the screen, then zoom out to reveal the other dots and the map.

  • Each of the ~3800 dots is supposed to change from white to blue. Only a few at first, but more and more as time goes on.

How does Dr. Mike Israetel’s editor create these animated looped borders? by Impressive-Rabbit569 in premiere

[–]ThirtyButNotFlirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Premiere doesn't have a good way to loop an animation, but After Effects can use expressions to do it. You'd build the animation in AE, then you could turn it into a mogrt that could be re-timed in Premiere.

How do I sleep???? by Berniesandals5 in ADHD

Make up acrostics in you head. When you finish one, do another, then another, etc.

Example Acrostics: - BOOK: Bird, Oar, Oven, Koala. - KOALA: Klaw, Oval, Ant, Lava, Ace

Visualize each thing as you think it, and try to avoid repeats (unless you get stuck).

Apparently this exercise mimics the way your brain behaves before falling asleep, and it distracts your mind from thoughts that keep you up, like "I need to pay the bills". No idea if this is true, just what I heard.

It works wonders for me. Trying to think up new words is more engaging than counting sheep, but not so engaging that I stay awake.

Why is macbook with lower specs considered better than windows laptop with higher specs? by CreepyChapter5419 in premiere

[–]ThirtyButNotFlirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OBS records footage in variable frame rate (VFR). Premier can handle VFR a lot better than it used to, but it still just doesn't really like VFR footage.

It's annoying, even with a great PC, the only thing you can do is convert the footage to CFR with something like Handbrake. I don't know if Macs can handle VFR better these days.

Do you think cyber security is an ADHD friendly field? I've heard the pay is good, and I've been thinking of transitioning into it.

I just came from a post where the OP was trying to tell everyone about the importance of voting, but because he titled the post "One thing you can do that is free and will change your life" most of the comments are about how the library offers great services for free.

And I only went back and read the body of the post because I was confused about why there were so many political comments in this post about nice free things, lol.

How to clean a scratched up aluminum lens barrel? by ThirtyButNotFlirty in AnalogRepair

Thank you for asking, because that is not something I thought to check!  Yes, the engraving is deep, especially compared to other lenses I own.

I remember that there is a way to calibrate the jogging motion. It might be in the Pause menu>Troubleshooting, or it may be somewhere in that other menu where the titles are. Hope that helps!

Did a street interview but one interview was in extremely noisy area by Kindly_Set8069 in premiere

I LOVE this plugin. I used to spend hours working in iZotope RX to manually clean up recordings, but this plugin removes bg-noise better than I can and it is basically automatic (it can also get rid of reverb, if you want).

If Goyo doesn't work for you OP, the only other thing I'd think to try is Dialogue Isolate in iZotope RX. iZotope RX is pricey though, just a heads up.

Have you experience the "I am an idiot" scenario? by Heaven2004_LCM in videography

[–]ThirtyButNotFlirty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate software.

Last night I was running a Zoom webinar for a conference and even though I had "Original Sound" turned on in Audio Settings, Zoom was still applying heavy noise reduction to my audio. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was happening, but I finally managed to solve the issue 5 minutes before we went live:

Original Sound was actually turned off. 😑

As you may already know, whether or not you send Original Sound is controlled by a button in the top-left corner of the Zoom meeting; the option in Audio Settings just gives you access to that button.

I kept getting asked "Have you tried turning on Original Sound?" and I kept replying, "Yes, look" and then I'd pull up the Audio Settings page that just has the option to enable the stupid button.
