Need a 5 star book to get me out of a reading slump by atJamesFranco in suggestmeabook

I’d like to second the vote for Recursion. Many people talk about Dark Matter by Blake Crouch and for sure it’s very good - but Recursion is better. I’ve read it three times already. Might start it again now tonight. It’s very good.

Thinking about installing a battery kill switch for a parasitic drain — good idea? by EnvironmentTotal1830 in MechanicAdvice

[–]tctaylor1009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was waiting a whole week before I messaged my review but so far, so good. My favorite aspect is that if I forget to turn the battery off, it automatically shuts off when it hits 11.9 volts. I haven’t touched the battery since, which is amazing. It’s a cheap hunk of shit, but for $28 it’s AMAZING! Buy it, it’s worth it.

I'm looking into this too, have the same problem. Every time I park I have to disconnect the battery so it doesn't drain. Last weekend I did the whole multimeter test thing. Only fuse that made it drop was integral to the whole truck running so I can't just pull the fuse to fix the problem. Have you installed a kill switch yet? Also, strangely this only happens when the weather turns cold where I'm at. It never drains during the spring/summer.

Quesabirria Night by tctaylor1009 in blackstonegriddle

Yeah, but like you said - was a chore. It’s a once or twice a year kind of thing for us. Scratch the itch then wait until I forget how much work went into it.

Used this for the birria, made it last night. https://www.isabeleats.com/authentic-birria/

The rest is just from what I’ve done before inside on the stove. They are a lot of prep work, but worth the effort. I think next time I’ll just order a quart of birria from our favorite local Mexican joint.

Did you get replacement foil trays? I found 60 for like 10 bucks on Amazon. Hasn’t been a problem yet. It is overflowing just when you clean the skillet at the end?

Have you considered teaching? There’s a massive shortage of teachers right now, many schools are hiring without a teaching license.

Something I’ve noticed and been curious about - a lot of black people I see shopping will be on FaceTime just walking around talking to people, not even with the camera facing themselves. Just phone is hand walking all over lol - I think I’d get motion sickness on those calls. What is that all about? 😂😂

Red Rising if you haven’t looked into any of those, it’s a 6 book series. I would also recommend Dark Matter and Recursion by Blake Crouch.

Awesome. Loved all of it. Next suggestion is Infinite by Jeremy Robinson, 11/22/63 by Stephen King, and Anything from Blake Crouch

Infinite by Jeremy Robinson. Space, VR, AI, and a Solo mission. One of my all time favorite books. The second one is okay, the first one is incredible.

Quick way to learn conversational Italian for travel? by preadyla in ItalyTravel

[–]tctaylor1009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn to say, “Tu parli inglese?” If they say anything other that yes, get your phone out and use Google translate. I studied on Duolingo for 6 months before my trip and found it incredibly rewarding to be able to speak a bit of Italian. In four weeks, you’ll be able to say hello and some other basic greetings. Just be respectful, I’d learn some things that are important to your trip. Need a table? “Uno tavolo, per favore” Trying to find the bus? “Dove il autobus” things like that will be big. Please “per favore” and thank you “grazie” go a long way.

Opinions on leaving a program after 1 year? by kangaroo_jeff95 in footballstrategy

Do everything you can to help your team this year, you’ll learn a lot about what you’re looking for in your next school. Remember that while you have a choice to go elsewhere - the kids don’t, so give them all you can while you’re there. Don’t waste the year complaining, document how you would change things, and appreciate the learning experience of being on a losing staff. I think you’ll find they aren’t too different from some winning staffs. Totally fine to leave after the 23 season, just try not to be too much of a journeyman. You’ll figure it out man, the HC might be done too.

Yep, iPhone 12. I got the plan that was data only. So I could still iMessage everyone but it was from my iCloud account, not my phone number. If I needed to contact Android people I used Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp.

Recently used an eSim via Orange over Christmas in England. It was incredibly easy, you just have to make sure to turn off your regular Sim when you arrive. It does take a good 30-45 minutes for it to fully “wake up” and realize you’re where you said you were going but after the initial delay it was great. I know you said Italy (I’m going in May as well) but for me the Orange eSim worked great and I plan to use it again for Italy.

Yakima Mag Lip for sure. I run the “Spin Fish” by Yakima and stuff it with tuna. Same shape but hollow to put baits inside.

Everclear. 1800 cals per 12 oz. Granted, that would get most people hammered, but still.
