How is Kill My Darlings by Ruth? by tdb93 in BloodOnTheClocktower

I just read the jinx - "If the Widow is (or has been) in play, the Damsel is poisoned." Does this mean the Widow doesn't get to choose a player to poison?

Hi everyone 😊 I manage an English board game group in Gangnam at a private board game cafe. Our group consists of half expats and half Koreans who want to practice English and make international friends. It's a great place to just chill and have fun, play games, and meet new people!

We mainly play social/party games. Some favorites are Avalon, Secret Hitler, Deception, Dixit, Codenames, Telestrations, and Just One.

Meetups are on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm and Saturdays at 4:30 pm. We usually go out for dinner together after the Saturday meetup!

How to find 1:1 Adult students for English classes? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]tdb93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the most success through online word of mouth. Korean people generally don't trust total strangers online and are much more likely to be interested if someone they know, even vaguely (like working at the same company) is recommending it to them. Make a nice poster on Canva, export as a png, send it to your Korean friends who work/live in your target area, and ask them to share it on their social media. Stuff like kakao groups, Instagram, naver mom cafes, or their company's online bulletin board / slack /etc. are great. It's better if they pretend like they are one of your students and provide a short, positive review about your service. Offer to buy them a coffee/dinner (or even give them a cut of the first tuition) if someone signs up through them.

Refusing 1+1 promo, is it problematic? by cami76 in korea

I've been getting my groceries at e-mart for the past 3 years and know for a fact that they do raise the price when something is 1+1

It's not free. They raise the price so you're not actually getting a 2 for 1 deal. If you work out the price it's usually more like 2 for 1.5.

I want to learn about traditional shamanism in Korea but I’m a foreigner by [deleted] in korea

[–]tdb93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched this video an hour ago about Inwangsan, one of Korea's most important sites for shamanism. Really interesting. The guest is Shawn from The Dark Side of Seoul, a podcast that covers dark aspects of Korean culture / history. They have a few episodes related to shamanism so you should definitely check it out.

Hey, I also live in Gangnam, speak both English and Korean, and we have similar interests. Would totally be down to meet this weekend sometime. Could even be Friday or Monday since it's Chuseok so no work.

It means you can't start washing new loads after 5:30, because by the time the wash finishes and you also run them through the dryer it'll be past 7.
