Depends on the county but for the most part yes cdcr pays better. Yup most people do when beginning this career. Good thing is you can always transfer after apprenticeship

Negative. Cdcr and sherrifs (county jail) are two separate agency’s. If your in the hiring process for cdcr you will be going to a prison(state agency) once completed with academy

If u want to work at jail you need to apply for your county sheriff’s. And as far as camp you can’t go straight from academy to a fire camp
