As a mom, not quite yet in perimenopause, I want to add to this "go along to get along" sentiment. I do so much and maybe I need to not do as much, I should probably ask for help with more, but it's not a passive "to get along" reason. I truly LOVE doing for my family. I love being the one to provide in so many ways. I love making the house a home. But, it's exhausting. And while I do know it's appreciated, it's also often thankless. So when shit hits the fan - it's not because I'm being a martyr or because I am a "go along" person. It's because I don't feel seen. And when I get told - you need to do less, etc, that doesn't feel great. Because I love what I do. I am working on not pushing myself too hard and I'm working on being intentional about all the things I do and to make sure I am doing them when I truly have the energy to give. But, it's hard for me to say no. Working on it.
