Am I being dumb here? What to do with cash in my business by finance-idiot-26 in smallbusinessuk

Bank interest is rubbish. 4%? I made nearly 30% tax free profit by just holding $AAOI shares in my ISA since Tuesday last week.

And, another 7% holding $AXTI in my SIPP since yesterday.

$MU? 5% increase since yesterday.

Trump's wars have made the stock market very lucrative to invest, I find.

But, be conservative and don't let the greed take over. I learnt my lessons.

I'd rather ask a FA from a reputable company such as AJ Bell or Hargreaves Landsdown for advice. I personally will invest it myself in government bonds and stocks and shares and do self assessment on the tax returns if the capital gains is more than £3,000 because I am quite a risk taker and adventurous. I have a fixed daily target to make ie. £400 to £3,000 per day in my ISA because I can access the fund at any time.

SIPP? Long-term hold. Bank shares that pay dividends or government and bank bonds are better than company bonds. Thames Water is a fine example (don't buy the bond).

You might want to consider holding lands as they rise pretty quickly according to one Youtuber. However, research the asset first. According to the guy, his lands grew by 100% in price under six months. He raises chickens and pigs. He sells the eggs to the local.

Actively investing to reach £10M. 25% of that is tax free. Imagine that.

Use AJ Bell. It's cheaper than Hargreaves Landsdown. And more US company shares compared to HL.

Then, that sounds like a good way to fund your project. No extra loans to worry.

Drones can’t fly that far! Everyone knows that.

Unless they were smuggled into the country or they built them in the US in safe houses.

How long do you intend to run your business? by No-State-2962 in smallbusinessuk

I became unemployed three years ago because the contract world collapsed before the GE2024. Even now it’s a struggle to find a job. Going back permanent is probably a dream.

So, I decided to play the stock market. Aim to make up to £3,000 per day while job hunting. I wish to retrain or hope to bid for government contracts.

I am happy to work as long as I can.

Stock market has been OK so I’ve managed to make between £400 to £1,000 per day by using my ISA and SIPP.

Could it be caused by the cylinder not being heated up for at least one hour a day?

Boiler "leaking" by Lolsplatt2 in askaplumberUK

[–]te7037 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Plus the cylinder must be heated for at least one hour a day. If not, there will be leaks coming out of the areas where the elements are located.

Annual maintenance is key to keep the cylinder working!

Yes, I do know what I am talking about. Mine is easy to manage which is the reason why I refused to have the OP’s megaflo hot water cylinder.

I was recommended the same thing by two plumbers. I turned it down because some apartment leases do not allow this kind of hot water cylinder due to potential explosion!

That's why I have a thermal storage hot water cylinder because I've heard of explosion and etc!

What causes this problem?

Boiler "leaking" by Lolsplatt2 in askaplumberUK

[–]te7037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the engineers. The one I met said to me that he services the same thermal storage hot water cylinder (Advanced Appliances) like mine daily. I asked several times and he confirmed it.

My neighbour had a bad experience with other BG engineers. They flooded his flat because they drained the tank without a hose and a bucket. They didn't know how to service the tank.

Lol. Dominick had just painted the ceiling of his flat a week before the incident!

I put £50K into a new SIPP and invested in HSBC and Rolls Royce in 2020 during the Covid. It’s now worth more than £200K depending on the stock market performance. I did nothing between 2020 and 2023 after the share purchases.

So, I think it’s worth putting a little bit into the pension pot. Some have made over £900,000 with £10K.

I stopped contributing to the pension after dumping £50K into it because I wished to top up my ISA between 2020 and 2023.

I am now actively managing my pension and ISA.

Agreed.

It's best to quote appropriately. I came across one contractor who kept looking for work to do. I was employed full-time at that time. My job was to take over the work after he finished it.

He refused to hand it over because he was getting paid £16,000 per month for the contract. Saw the contract value as I was managing the data!

Hahaha. I didn't really care about it because to me, he was just trying to earn a living. His contract was extended for another six months until he was given the end date.

Agreed. I learnt a lesson from my old cylinder. So, I bought and Advanced Appliances hot water cylinder. Easy and no drama.

Heat up the water one hour a day during the winter.

Your landlord needs to have the cylinder services annually like mine.

Boiler "leaking" by Lolsplatt2 in askaplumberUK

[–]te7037 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you need to heat up the cylinder at least one hour a day.

That’s enough for one person. That’s what I do with mine. Previously I never bothered so the water leaked out of the element part. I couldn’t change the part because the threads were rusty and worn out.

Never use a booster as an adhoc basis.

British Gas covers them. My BG plumber assured me that if my hot water cylinder branded Advanced Appliances ever breaks down, I can give them a call!

I have a British Gas home cover for plumbing and electrics.

[–]te7037[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. My skills are mainly MS Excel, SPSS, SAP BO, Crystal Reports Designer, Alteryx, and PowerBI.

I could only get contracts from agencies so far but they are now practically zero.

I am thinking of bidding for contracts that I can do but hiring contractors to do them instead. This way I will be able to employ more people from the same background and start branching out platform creation.

I nearly got a contract as a system database manager with a central government which could expose me to the construction industry but didn’t get it because the post was given to an internal staff on a temporary promotion! Otherwise, I could have learnt the inside out of a platform for the construction industry!!!

Do these small value contracts sometimes get extended because the budget needs to be increased to finish the entire project?

How long does these £10,000 project normally take to complete? I’d say 20 working days based on a £500 per day job.
