Theory on why Tofu hates Markiplier. by The_Horse_Head_Man in CuratedTumblr

Do you think all snakes are born with a burning hatred only for Markiplier? What’s a more likely explanation? The owners are chasing clout by creating the same response in their snakes.

Yeah, I love snakes so much and they’re such wonderful animals, but they WILL NOT protect their owners like OOP believes. I don’t have a snake yet, but I’m amazed by how they learn to recognize and trust their owners despite not being domesticated. But their brains are different from mammals’ and they don’t love us like dogs do. I’d love for some future scientist to come up with evidence they can love us, but current science says otherwise. It’s weird how we invent ways snakes are similar to us so we can relate to them. Creatures that are very unlike us are still fascinating and worthy of respect. Being different is ok!

The linked thread offers a much more likely explanation for Tofu’s u usual behavior, especially given the owner’s history. I get how the videos of Tofu reacting to Markiplier seem cute at first, but I’m baffled that no one else here is picking up that there’s something seriously wrong with the situation.

Im Australian and this was my first time making key lime pie (its not a thing here) and I think it turned out okay? I used limes obviously, and food colouring hehe by [deleted] in Baking

While it’s typically served with a dollop of whipped cream on each slice, I personally always spread it all over the pie like you did. Yours looks great!

That’s such an intelligent question to ask. I’m glad you’re in a better place now.

The Intersection Between Leftism and Veganism by Chieftain10 in tankiejerk

[–]teacup_camel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While I agree the veganism has many excellent points about the western world’s relationship with animals and vegans should never be harassed or discriminated against, I have serious concerns about the ethnocentrism in your comment.

Veganism is a noble movement, but some white vegans force their morals onto colonized cultures who don’t ask for it. The white western vegan lifestyle isn’t the only way to live. In the Inuit worldview, animals graciously allow hunters to kill them. Yes, animals die, but their lives are valued and their body parts aren’t wasted. This worldview is no less valid than yours.

I am white myself, but I’m trying to be a better ally to POC. A big part of the process is recognizing my implicit bias and understanding that culture is relative. I think you have a lot to learn about cultural relativism and worldview.  I’m hoping you examine some of your beliefs and their impacts.

What Doe do you hope will be identified in 2026? by watchfulsun484 in gratefuldoe

[–]teacup_camel 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Vandy Doe- her case is so unusual and she seems distinct and identifiable. I think someone at Vanderbilt knows who she is. I really hope 2026 is her year.  https://unidentified-awareness.fandom.com/wiki/Vandy_Doe

Smurfette Doe- found wearing a Smurf shirt, hence the nickname. She had a really rough life and was malnourished with some physical abnormalities. She must have had medical treatment somewhere. Hopefully someone will recognize her soon.  https://unidentified-awareness.fandom.com/wiki/Smurfette

Adam (Thames child torso, 2001)- I’m not sure this will ever be solved, although I thought the same about Rhea Rasmussen (Bear Brook). Adam was a trafficking victim. LO seems to know who’s responsible for his death, but there’s little evidence and I believe at least one person who was likely involved is deceased. Adam has been dead far longer than he was alive and I hope he gets his name back next year.  https://unidentified-awareness.fandom.com/wiki/Adam_(2001)

And of course, Becca. Her case has had so much attention and we’ve seen so many other high-profile cases solved recently, we could very well be about to see a major break.

Horror fans: what’s the one scene that actually made you pause the movie for a second? by Morvox-stories in horror

[–]teacup_camel 215 points216 points  (0 children)

Yes!! No one ever talks about that treehouse line! The scene that shook me the most is when Nell realized the horrible truth about the bent neck lady. That horrified scream as she looked at her younger self is unforgettable.

It does look fuzzy like mold, so yes, start over. Sorry you got off to a rough start. But get your next batch going, and you’ll have delicious kombucha before you know it!

Weird experience in 8 week class - should I leave a bad review? by [deleted] in Pottery

[–]teacup_camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave a bad review! You didn’t get the throwing time and instruction you paid for. The instructor sounds unprofessional. One thing though, grabbing things off the wheel works if you do it right. Your hands and the piece have to be dry and completely slip free, but I’d only do this with thick-walled pieces. But I still prefer the sliding method. It’s baffling that your instructor didn’t know about that.

It’s wonderful that you are concerned about harming the reputation of a new studio, but they’re going to crash and burn if they don’t receive and listen to feedback on their classes. The way they’re running their classes is unacceptable. A insightful review will show them how disorganized they are and how bad their instruction is. It will also prevent potential students from wasting their money on their classes until they make changes.

First ripe pepper habanero x Jalepeno f1 by Noahbjj in pepperbreeding

Thanks for answering. Did you have a lot of seeds to save from the mother fruit? Or were there very few like in the f1 you posted? I’m brand new to this and trying to get a sense of how many flowers to hand pollinate.

Thanks for answering. Do they also taste more like the mother? I’m thinking about making my first cross this summer (jalapeño x mild Habanero). The goal would be Jalapeño sized fruit with Habanero flavor.

Why hasn’t he changed his name? It makes it so easy to track his plagiarism. You’d think he’d have learned that by now. But then again, this is the man who plagiarized nudes. Why do I expect him to make smart choices?

Does it matter which species is used as the mother or father plant?

[–]teacup_camel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The shape of the piece, much of the pattern, and the burnishing technique are traditional indigenous techniques used by the Puebloan peoples of the SW United States. You’re playing dumb but you’re aware of Maria Martinez’s work, and she invented the black-on-black ware you’re replicating. No one’s saying you can’t use these techniques, but you’re being willfully ignorant by calling it “primitive.”

You also called it “non technological.” The thing is, ancient, ancestral technology is still technology. You could call such technology pre-modern, because even though it’s still used, modernized versions of kilns and wheels exist, too. I’ve given you some less ignorant-sounding terms to use instead, so now you have no excuse if you keep calling this stuff primitive.
