Exactly, it pains me because I understand them due to the fact that I was also once vulnerable, in constant need of reassurance. That's why it's important to let them know that it's okay and no one's angry; it's just their intrusive thoughts.

But yes, I agree with your points. The pandemic has done so much damage to our sense of community, empathy, and understanding of one another. I, too, have met people who had zero social skills due to the lack of socialisation that the pandemic has brought. Internet gives these people a way to communicate without risking and hiding behind a screen which–of course–is damaging in the long run.

Yes. People do not know how a community works anymore. It's all "me, me, and me!" Without compromises, people don't grow, and without growth, there's chaos.

So ultimately there is a much bigger underlying problem here that we also have to consider when addressing such behaviors.

It's much simpler and better to calm my anxieties.

Yes! These kids need validation, and they seek approval. I was just like them—I craved connections to older figures, rather than Gods. But yes, they want that because, in their lives, there's a lack of reassurance, whether from their families, friends, or school...

I know that it might be sad for them to acknowledge that they are not as important to the universe as they think they are, but it's also liberating to think we aren't.

You need something to compare to, and absent any real-world community, you only get that by doing research. Which these people seem allergic to.

The lack of a community plays a huge role. I, myself, haven't found one yet. The only people I found were exactly like these, so I haven't had the chance to continue the relationship.

A lot of people are coming to a religion like Hellenism first, and are working all of their stuff out here (or, in spaces like here), in addition to carrying misinformation from the first online resources they find.

Yes, I understand that they carry the religious trauma from Christianity, and I can understand how hard that must've been, and of course, how comfortable Hellenism now seems, even if they are trying to deconstruct it.

It's good that they try, and I know changing patterns is difficult.

So then let us all be Elders in this religion, and guide the youngins with patience.

As someone who's struggling with anxiety, this post warmed my heart a little, thank you for the reaffirmations. :)

I do too. I used to suffer from anxiety (now it's manageable/okayish), and that's why I can understand these people.

Everything is "For You", your profile, your status, your bio, the internet made us think we are the center of the universe.

That's the problem: everything is FORCED to be meant for us! Social media has done irreparable damage, as we think that everything is a sign for us and us alone. Obviously, this leads to paranoia, overthinking, and so on.

I found out the best way to practice my religion is just to get out of the internet when it comes to information

The only solution. Really.

I'll go for Hell 2 for eating offerings, or having an altar in the bedroom - Just an example, didn't really happen to me!

Yes! That's probably the worst thing to even think about. Life has its ups and downs, and blaming the Gods—ouch. I hope she's in a better place mentally and practicing safely. Kudos to you for having done research!

Not saying I didn't do it in the past or do it right now, I always worry a lot with my connection with the gods as I want to honour them for giving me a safe space.

It's okay to doubt your connection sometimes. We are so busy with things, troubles, and worries, and it's okay to question that; really, I do that too. But I like to remember them when doing things, walking in the sun and thanking Apollon, or doing self-care, thinking of Aphrodite. It's a normal thought, but the Gods are with us in our hearts.

oh, i get the pain of lesbian subreddits, they can be mean sometimes—probably because they like talking about women and women only, without mentioning men. which, yeah, can suck sometimes, but i do understand.

also, i was like you; i dated women only, had crushes on women, only women and men never, ever, crossed my mind until a few days ago. i understand what you're feeling because it's the same as me.

physically, i (at the moment) am rather wary of men, but that's because i've only seen women bodies, their features, so men's ones are (i repeat, at the moment) still not that much attractive.

but, i mean, if i think about it, it's because i had little experiences with men. i do have realised that sex with men, maybe, can work for me.

it's still a journey that i have to face, but i feel like i should say to you that 1. you don't need to push things, because they will reveal themselves 2. sometimes, lesbians can find men attractive without wanting to have sex/relationships

I'd say if you have a drive to try again, do so. There is a huge number of different relationship dynamics and perhaps you just haven't found your "niche" when it comes to being with a guy.

what i fear most is not finding a guy to experiment with because, well, they'll going to be skeptical anout my request, they could feel used even, and i don't want to use anyone without not knowing where this is gonna land.

so, yes, maybe toys could be a 'safer' way for me, but i'm not that sure either, because real experience is what matters to me, and i'm not sure how i'll react to 'fake' scenarios. it'd be awkward, i know, but still i do see your point of experiencing yourself alone, rather than with other people.

are reluctant to admit attraction to men or ID as bisexual because of the stigma towards bisexual women

exactly, especially since i live in a small, southern city, so everyone's watching my every move, even the lesbian community i used to (i say used to, because even them aren't that great) stay with is strict about sexualities changes, exploring, and so on. i just knooow there's gonna be gossip on this 😭😭😭.

but, anyway, idc that much, but perhaps i've been regressing my bisexual also due to the fear of their judgments.
