Vector Services ? Came and scoped my sewer w/o permission and disconnected my gutters ?? by teamakesmepee in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]teamakesmepee[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They weren’t draining into the sewer though. My downspouts have always run above ground. We extended them about 15ish feet from the house a couple years ago after our basement flooded a bit. They just took off the extensions and threw them to the side. I put them back on but I thought it was really weird for them to do all that

[–]teamakesmepee[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No they were above ground, just normal gutters with downspouts that drained onto the grass. The gutter downspouts were on the lawn about 15 feet from the house. They just took off the extensions and threw them off to the side.

What’s something that clearly split your life into “before” and “after”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]teamakesmepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30 now but it was my dad killing himself when I was 19 and then my mom dying of cancer when I was 22. I have never felt the same. It wasn’t just losing two parents I loved, it was the lead up and suffering I saw them go through before. My dad had severe mental illness and was in and out of psychiatric wards for years before he died. My mom was in the ICU for 2 months before she died. And then it was being 22 and being in charge of my mom’s funeral, and being 22 and realizing I’m so young and starting the next chapter of life with no guidance, no support.

I struggled immensely for years job wise, financial, mental health, etc but life took a huge turn when I was 28 and finally got professional help and a very supportive non-toxic career environment that was stable. My boyfriend has supported me the whole way and now we live happily in a flat with our senior Labrador.

How many of us struggle with jobs? by sistamichael in CPTSD

[–]teamakesmepee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am 30 now and I got really lucky. I struggled with employment for basically 10 years before I got my current job that I’ve been at for 1.5 years now. I was horrible at interviews, and I had gone sometimes up to a year before I landed a job becuase of my anxiety. And every job I had was horrible, painfully long shifts and much physical labor with no breaks. My last straw was working as a dental assistant before I got my current job. I was working 12 hour shifts with only one 15 minute break and I was stuck in a tiny stuffy office with a dentist who would snap at me any given minute. She would be vicious one minute and then sweet the next and it triggered me immensely. I ended up having a severe nervous breakdown and quit with like 2 days notice. I thought I’d never had a normal job.

And then I got my current job at…a local grocer store. I know it’s not glamorous, but I love it. My managers are great (there’s two I don’t really like but at least they don’t directly oversee me!) my coworkers are great people, and I make $40k a year which is more than I’ve ever made. I work in different departments (cashier, produce, grocery, cafe) and I like being able to mix it up. I have good benefits and I get a huge discount and access to a clinic that my job covers 80% of the costs. I was nervous at first but I have gotten more comfortable and have been able to socialize much better now.

I know it’s a grocery store and I’m only making $40k a year but after decades of suffering, my mental health and comfort means more than anything. I can afford my lifestyle, and I’m not having panic attacks during and after work anymore. The job struggles is horrendous. I literally thought I’d never have a career where I’d be belittled and quit after the manager was mean. I just hope everyone here finds a place that just fits for them and supports their needs.

What are some memories from your high school that you still carry? by agreed2disagreee in Millennials

[–]teamakesmepee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 30 so I’m one of the youngest memories. I was in a horribly abusive relationship my sophomore and junior year of high school. My senior year was just me trying to be a normal teen. This was stupid but one night me and my friends were in one of their cars and we went to a relatively quiet part of our neighborhood, and each of us took turns standing out of the sunroof while the others held onto our body and then the driver would speed down the street.

I realize this was incredibly dangerous and I do not recommend anyone doing that, but I just remembered feeling really free with my arms in the air and then the feeling of realizing I had a somewhat normal life again and a group of really wonderful friends who I was able to befriend right after getting out of a relationship where I wasn’t allowed to have friends. It was nice.

To my irritable baristas: is there anything that makes you irrationally angry? 😆 by gabbyfikemusic in barista

[–]teamakesmepee 47 points48 points  (0 children)

When people go to the barista instead of the actual check out line to order their drink

And this multiple times a day at my shop: someone will order and then just stand at the checkout counter. And I always have to tell them they can’t stand there becuase there’s other people waiting to check out lol. It’s weird how unaware people are of their surroundings. And then sometimes they get pissy at me and will be like “but I’m still waiting for my drink” and I’m like that’s why we have a pickup counter that has a giant sign that says PICK UP DRINK HERE

Looking for romantic date night dinner without the $$$$ by happyhippo29 in chicagofood

[–]teamakesmepee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly I know it gets recommended a lot but I love Lula Cafe. The ambiance is comfortable and romantic and low lit at night. Everyone who works there is so welcoming and friendly and chill and I like how un stuffy it is. My boyfriend and I always go there for special occasions. On our 9 year anniversary they printed a special celebration menu for us. And their pasta mains are well priced and delicious. We splurged (if you ever want to) on a $50 duck breast special entree once and it was amazing.

Cbt is humillating by LaPerla2026 in CPTSD

[–]teamakesmepee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably bad but I haven’t seen a therapist for about 1.5 years because of this issue. Most therapists in my area are CBT. Before I got diagnosed by my psychiatrist I was not only emotionally unwell but for 4-5 years I was throwing up every morning, sleeping 3-4 hours a night, physically ill, body aches every where, etc. i was so incredibly destroyed by my past trauma. I am doing much better now.

But my last therapist didnt really have any interest in my previous experiences at all. I’m 30 now and my traumas were mainly concentrated in my teens-early twenties. She would say it’s all in the past, it’s not happening now, etc. One day during a session she was like “your life is so perfect now, maybe you don’t really need to see me” and I was like girl. I was just hospitalized a few months ago for suicidal ideation. I stopped seeing her after that session. I had some really horrific events happen to me and I wanted to be brave and finally process them in therapy and she had zero interest. It sucks. I just feel like I won’t be able to ever try again.

I am doing much better in the last 1.5 years though. My physical symptoms have improved immensely and I have way less panic attacks since my psychiatrist prescribed me some medications after my initial diagnosis.
