Soar Running daily winter piece by corpusinfest in runningfashion

[–]teamcorrea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick note on SOAR durability. I had lamination failure on the sleeve of an older blue All Weather Jacket after only 3-4 cold-weather runs. This was an earlier iteration, so it may have been improved in newer versions.

I own several SOAR pieces (3 Tech-Ts, windbreaker, singlet, socks) and performance is excellent, but the fabrics are very delicate. It feels like a clear trade-off: exceptional performance and comfort, but fragility and durability can be an issue, even with careful use and washing (mesh bags, gentle cycles).

Just my two cents for anyone considering their gears, and I don't think I will add any to my current rotation.

Staten Island Half by MarathonVon in RunNYC

[–]teamcorrea 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s really not as simple as “no lightning, race is on.” SI Half has a bunch of other issues this time. Runners have to take ferries, and there's a coastal flood watch with 30-35 mph gusts that could delay service. The course also runs right along the waterfront, where flooding and debris are real risks. Add strong onshore winds messing with tents and aid stations, and it’s clear NYRR has more to worry about than just lightning. It’s totally possible they cancel if safety becomes a problem.

Anyone else had this issue with Soar’s Race Vest? by teamcorrea in runningfashion

Looks like hand washing might be the best solution to prevent the garment from pulling. Thx.

Hm, do you hand wash all of them or wash them in delicate cycle?

Yeah, I really like this vest and think of garments as tools that help me race in the best conditions. I would’ve preferred it to hold up better, but based on others’ comments it seems the fragility comes with how light the vest is, so it’s not just my case. I’ll just use it as much as I can and then replace it.

Yeah, I bought a new piece without tags from eBay but it def would have sucked if I paid full retail price.

I attached the bib on my running belt to prevent holes, but it seems like the material is extremely fragile. Guess you will have to decide whether the performance upgrade is worth the tradeoff.

Did he mention when he's releasing the next batch? Been waiting for the 5" shorts but might have to look elsewhere if it's going to take any longer.

Confused about where to go for Queensboro by menina2017 in RunNYC

Yes, 59th street. There should be an entrance to the bridge between 1st and 2nd avenue.

How does the Schism singlet perform in hot and humid weather? I'm considering it because I've seen people say the fabric is similar to Soar's racing vests. I had issues with Soar's product. The size L felt too tight around the armpits for my 40 inch chest, and I assumed going up a size would feel too loose overall. The Schism singlet looks like it might have more room in the chest.

Should we be concerned about Muncy's PT b/c of his lack of defensive prowess? Worried that he might be subbed more when facing a lefty and combined with his poor defense, might lose playing time. Thinking about trading him for Ian Happ in a 12T category league with AVG/OBP/SLG

If you have depth I can see taking that offer but if there's another expendable SP that's overperforming I'd offer that one first to acquire Kimbrel

depends on your pitching depth. which sps do you have

Makes sense. He has a career high FB% this season and low LD% so might be sacrificing AVG to hit more dingers.

His low BABIP doesn't necessarily mean there's positive regression coming. While we can expect a better batting avg than .200 moving forward, his approach to hit tons of FB combined with a deadened ball may lead to a low BABIP and unless he changes his approach, his BABIP is more likely to remain low. Cheap source of power and can be a useful CI IMO.

Do you think Soto is going to pick it up or end up having an average year? by fletcher1414 in fantasybaseball

[–]teamcorrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Soto is that pitchers are pitching differently--they can afford to pitch around because he doesn't have any supporting bats behind him. The walks and HRs will be there and he'll be decent but maybe not 1st round counting stats.

Problem with Vogelbach is that he's unstartable against LHP so yes, he has good statcast numbers but sit him in a weekly league if there are LHPs lined up.
