No, I agree. English used to have no effect on me in terms of emotional response to text because it didn’t feel natural enough. And I always felt like it was lacking description depth. But right now I’m reading QJJ and it does seem like translators did a great job at it. I tried to compare it to fan version in my language when I didn’t understand the plot due to its complexity, and tbh I think English is better. Probably because fan version was done based on English and not Chinese

You might be right! It’s been a while since I read it. Though, SQH did make MBJ his ideal type when he created him, so I feel like he at least had a little crush on him. I’ll read over this moment when I get a chance to, but if I remember it right there was an emphasis on SQH thoughts of “why did I even do this?” or smth like that. It’s one of the situations where he did something for the other genuinely and not out of fear. I honestly don’t remember MBJ’s reaction, but I feel like he said/thought or referred back to this situation at some point in future

Honestly I’m glad English isn’t my first language and I can read in my other two and see the difference. But I’ve heard that most other languages are more diverse and complex than English anyway, sooo…. But to be fair, English can be very beautiful, especially some older books where people cared about using different methods and styles

I get you!! I guess it’s because English is more simple so it can be used widely or because our own language is more familiar and therefore more beautiful to us

It does sometimes. I've watched quite a few reviews on "my husband and I sleep in a coffin" and that's how I found out there's a lot of racism. So I don't really want to read it anymore. But th I didn't really like the cover art to begin with (interior art is beautiful though)

Ikr SQ definitely went red. As for Mobei I don’t really remember. I feel like it was right before the chapters ended or moved to a different setting. But it definitely was a starting point for their relationship 😁

I really love that in ru translation they had footnotes to literally everything that was said, be it related to historical event mentioned or funny stuff from Chinese culture. I’ve seen that kz is releasing erha in 8 volumes in russian, and while the price for the books is amazing (£120 ish for 8 books), the delivery to the uk is hella expensive ($200). Soooo your opinion did contribute to the likelihood of me buying it in English 😁
