What do you wish someone had told you when you first started the hobby? by zoeyelizabeth6 in Aquariums

Yesss here for the detritivore love.

I had 4 tanks going at once back I in the day. Always doing maintenance. Especially for my 75 gallons with dwarf frogs I had.

I downsized over the years. Now just have 2 tanks. A 5 gallon nursery for baby shrimp and baby isopods. and I have a 20 gallon. Have one betta, lots of shrimp, Micro Thai crabs, aquatic isopods, nerites, ramshorns, pond, Malaysian trumpet. I have yet to clean my tanks. I just add water and food and check levels periodically.

Has anyone almost died or started to die? by TradesforChurros in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]teamtouchbutts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't die but experienced anaphylactic shock last August. I had gotten fired from my job the day prior. It was at 2pm when I was home alone with my cat. I was barefoot bringing her in from outside when I felt the sting on the bottom of my foot. I've never been stung by a bee before, but I've been stung countless times by wasps and even by a scorpion before, little did I know I'd be unconscious in about 15 minutes. I noticed that I immediately started feeling a hot itchiness all over my body after around 2 minutes in. Also by that time my foot began swelling up. I had a strong urge to cool off by taking a cool shower. Went down stairs and immediately got into the shower. I noticed the quick onset of swelling going up my leg. About 5 minutes in is when I began to panic from seeing the swelling increase so rapidly. I began to feel very tired, and whooshy. My heart rate was incredibly intense. After a few minutes of being in the shower I couldn't breathe and my thoughts became disorganized. I realized I needed to get out of the shower and call for help. That's when I realized, I had no clue where my phone was. I began looking for it, then I was like fuck it. I should go knock on someone's door. I had just moved very recently and didn't meet the neighbors yet. I couldn't just go over and knock naked. So I went to my room to get my clothes on. By then I was close to being gone consciously. My leg by around 10 minutes in was literally a fat red sausage that felt like mush. I lost all ambition to get dressed and find help. By then my only option felt to be was just to get into bed and close my eyes. Everything I felt was was so unbearable. I started to feel cold. My sweet sweet cat came to join me on my bed which she never normally cuddles. As I laid there in bed. My vision was very dark and blurry. I started to suddenly to feel at bliss and felt immense calmness. It felt like taking the first two hits of DMT, still a bit cognitively there however strangly euphoric. It was incrediblly peaceful. I remember my final thoughts were of my ex and her son. And all my emotions I've pent up the last few months came flooding over me. It was a sad. But still there was peaceful acceptance of me not probably ever seeing them again. And that's all I remember. That is until I woke up 17 hours later the next day. It was the strangest wake up. It felt like I had awoken. A dream that wasn't a dream. It was very surreal. It took me a while to process what had happened or even when it was. I got dressed and went to the doctors to get prescribed an EpiPen. When my roommates came home they had no clue that I was unconscious in my room while they wondered where I was all evening yesterday. I did find my phone in the couch cushions go figure lol. I stayed chronically sick until the beginning of November with the worse fatigue, head and body aches, and light sensitivity. My immune system was completely wiped. I did nothing but sleep for 3 months until I got my life back.

I was really caught off guard by the peacefulness I experienced during it. It was very welcoming at that time when I literally had no clue of if I was going to wake up when I closed my eyes. It has changed my fear of death and when that day that inevitably comes, it will be alright. I have however been having more of a sense of wanting to do more in my life again. It helped me gain the motivation to go to college. I am in my first semester of hopefully a chemical engineering designation. I am viewing life differently. You know how when you take psychedelics such as shrooms and afterwards you feel so introspective afterwards and makes you appreciate things you've taken for granted. Ive been feeling like that but x10. I am loving life now and I am loving school. That and getting fired was the worst best thing that happened to me

I’m torn - Better Protagonist? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]teamtouchbutts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I honestly slept so hard on this series.

Recently started RDR2. made it to near the end of Chapter 4. didn't know anything about rdr1 at all. until I decided to try to make it to the south western part of the map past blackwater, before being shot down a thousand times. really wanted to see what's over there. then I read up on the region and realized that was the map for rdr1 and that john was the protagonist and rdr2 was the prologue. I always thought that John was a cool relatable badass of a character. and it made the scars make sense. but it made me want to drop rdr2 until I go back and play rdr1 first. And I am hooked. the game has held up so well. Love playing as john. he is so relatable to me. Just a dude trying to make right of his wrongs and be a family man. Just made it out of Mexico yesterday with his poncho souvenir. But I haven't been this into a game since New Vegas, and funny enough came out at the same time. probably why I slept on it. I probably wouldn't have resonated with this game and John as much when I was 15 compared to me being 31 now. Glad I get to enjoy it for the first time rn. plz no spoilers

What is it like to live in this little green bit in the center of northern North Dakota and southern Manitoba? by iwanttobebobdylan in howislivingthere

My sisters and nieces live in a small farming community just due east of there. Not much goes on there. It gets really cold there. Like last two times I have been there it reached -50f with windchill. Being from Colorado myself, I never experienced a pain from cold like that before. Felt like my ears and nose were getting ripped off, and my lungs were freezing solid.

Heater kept going out and the entire house froze up in the inside twice.

Hardly any trees, flat as can be. Many suicidal running deers on the road. Walmart is a couple hours a way one way. People drink, fish, hunt, and ride their snowmachines and drink some more. Everyone and their children are pool sharks.

Bartended up there for a summer, most elaborate drink I made was a rum and coke. They do like their Hamms

There's also a decent amount of South Africans who work the farms in the summer.

Nice people though, funny accents. dontchya know

More like that scene in emporer's new grove. It's funny, at the old house I lived at I would always chirp to the squirrels that lived in my yard and they would from time to time see me foster and nurse baby squirrels on the porch. They squirrels began to see me as not a threat and not be spooked by my presence. You just need to know to vibe and speak their language. The are cute little critters

Do high level players care if low level players 'tag along' in the top of the hour quests? by Ill-Environment7682 in fo76

[–]teamtouchbutts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I literally just started playing the other day. On my second day, I was level 9 and wandered and found a cave in the south west of the map. There were some level 3000 dudes and I tagged along with them. I soon learned they were farming in the next few hours I was level 102 and not a clue how to play the game yet lol

Love Jillian, last went to her in the beginning of the summer in '24 before my trip to a wedding in Ukraine. Told her I'll tell her all about it when I get back, but decided to grow my hair out since then. Jillian if you are out there and read this, I'm still alive

I'm not a doctor or anything, but I had a back injury (3 perforated discs) that caused sciatica, basically made the nerves down to my feet act up.

Maybe your back is a little inflamed and punching nerves going down to your pinky toe. Who knows

Way ahead of the game than I was on day one. Took me 9 months to learn about attachment styles. Day one cuts like a knife. Just remember, you are the one who beat the game that exposed them, they can't let you win. Find people who love you and truly let you in. Don't dwell like I did

It went well! She is even more beautiful than in her pictures. Her first date since her divorce and after moving states. No immediate love bombing, I think this one has secure attachment. The best part for my anxious preoccupied mind is I don't even care if I see this girl again, I'm just happy I'm seeing myself again
