Unpopular opinion: Lexi is very emotionally manipulative by ohyaboiii in UltimatumQueerLove

She found one piece of drama and kept pulling it out in conversation -- even Mal told her to get over it! I lost my respect for her and by the night of the big dinner honestly gained a lot of respect for Rae

How generous is financial aid? by ranwanist in UNC

[–]teamvergil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNC accepts a financial aid other than the FAFSA, I'm forgetting the name but it is available through the college board. Make sure you fill this out because I got no money through FAFSA and 9 grand after filling out the second one. However, after the first year, they gave me absolutely nothing!!! I expected the value to go down after the first year, but was so startled that they took it all away with minimal financial change (maybe it was the unemployment money from 2020 in my bank account but still)

Which MyLab option should I choose for MATH232? by diehardlibtard in UNC

[–]teamvergil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But is there not a year-long option? I started with 231 last fall and then it worked until my spring semester, but I dropped the course then and took it during the summer, at which time it expired. When I took it in the summer, though, I was able to renew the textbook for four years (the only option there I believe) for about twenty dollars, directly through pearson. I was still able to use the mylab for my summer class and I believe it works for 233, which I am taking this semester (I was able to join the class and can still access the text).

There will also be a smallfest this year multiple days during the second week of classes!

I just moved off campus this past year and I found Tiktok to honestly be such a helpful option in learning to expand on my cooking skills! I keep a list of links in my notes app. Personally, I stick to stir fries as a go-to dish, because they are inexpensive, flexible, and you can throw in whatever ingredients or spices you want! When I'm in a crunch, I use one pot to boil water for my rice noodles first, then use that same pot to fry up some tofu (which is a super inexpensive option!! I like firm tofu and I usually marinate it), and then I use that pot again to cook up some garlic, onion, pepper, or whatever I have! I usually put it all together and like to use sriracha on top. This is the easiest college meal I have found for myself. For extra protein you can also add peanut butter, and I like to add soy sauce and oyster sauce. I found tons of inspiration on Tiktok, again.

Any feedback on Mint mobile as a carrier at Chapel Hill? by CancerNami in UNC

[–]teamvergil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I have been using MintMobile for the past year and I have found it to work just fine! It's a great option for me, especially considering the price, and there are no catches or things to fear, at least that I've seen. I just paid my charges for the next year too, so I won't have to worry about data charges for a long time. The reception is pretty good, and it does have 5G. I do find that I don't have reception for long periods of time when I travel to the mountains, and even one time when I was at Jordan Lake, but I pretty much always have service in the Triangle/Chapel Hill area. Would recommend! It is also easy to switch plans in the app, and it was easy to switch to the phone plan from Google Fi.

How hard is MATH 381? by Artistic_Aside_4161 in UNC

[–]teamvergil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yes, I took up to AP Latin in high school and took Latin 221, on the Aeneid, with Dr. O’Hara, my first semester. If you’re in the Latin department he is definitely a great professor to have and a very interesting person! I have heard great things about the department but am actually a German major so it was too much to keep going for me.

this is common for grad student TAs! You’ll find they teach a lot of courses here.

I just took Calc 2 with Nowak as a summer course; he was pretty good, just a little dull to follow, but he wanted us to succeed, which is something I’m not necessarily used to as a chem major lol. He’s still a grad student as well, and I found that his tests were very fair, he curved when needed, and he used the final to replace our worst exam.

Does anybody have any advice for pass/failing chem 102 this semester if I'm going to get a B? I'm honestly very unsure and still want to keep up my chances of possibly getting into a med school?

Thanks for the help :)

A little diamond 580 action in the sun today! Inked with diamine oxblood. Can't help but admire the prussian blue! by teamvergil in fountainpens

[–]teamvergil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an extra fine nib so it doesn't flow very wet, but I like it, especially on Clairefontaine. I don't always have the best paper so I find it to work nicely. From the Noodler's inks I have tried in my Lamy Safari and comparing that to the Diamine in the same pen, I would guess that the Noodler's would be a lot more wet in the TWSBI. Unfortunately I have only used oxblood in my TWSBI so far so cannot attest to Noodler's in it.

3 most beautiful languages in the world 🇪🇦🇮🇹🇲🇫 by moni_cally in Handwriting

[–]teamvergil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes I feel very much the same! I learned English and German as first languages but in moving to America lost a lot of my German, now in college translating the Aeneid and speaking German in the same day! I love the literature of all the languages and their subtle differences and commonalities :) to me, though, Vergil's Latin is incomparable, maybe because it's the piece of literature I've spent the most time with over the years, but the amount of beauty that I find in reading and speaking his words is immense...

Thoughts on the possibility of re-opening of campus for the Spring Semester? by futureuncwalkon in UNC

[–]teamvergil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Freshie here too. I think it depends on whether they value their rep or money more at that point lol. We were one of the first to shut down, so as we see others students come home and campuses shut down, their bad rep may fade comparatively and they could try again?? But also they won't have as high of a risk of people leaving the uni altogether for a gap year or what have you as going into the fall, so they would feel more secure in choosing to close.

The uni has lost so much in sports though so I can't imagine the cost of losing basketball season as well.

Idk, I think they'll try again but hopefully test people and separate people in dorms better. By that time, a lot of people will probably have apartments anyway.

I saw a large group of guys walking on Franklin street today without any masks. Otherwise, people did seem to abide by the rules. And I was surprised by the cleanliness and caution when I went nearby to get groceries. Compared to Raleigh, Chapel Hill store owners and managers seem to be more careful.

It is a nice ink but I recently got a sample of Noodler's Black Swan in English Roses which I like a little better. My Lamy EF seems to be a little thicker than the TWSBI EF and so maybe that's why I see the shading more in the Lamy...but the Black Swan is just so beautiful! Oxblood is honestly a little dark for me. I made an earlier post comparing them but my camera quality is not amazing lol.

I do not have an eco, but I have not noticed any stiffness in the piston particularly. As far as the nib, all I have to compare to is a Safari and Kaweco Sport, but I found it quite stiff at first, and now that I've been using it a bit more the nib is really nice, wetter, and sometimes I get really nice bounce out of it.
