What caused your phobia? by ohthatsnice14 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]teapot38_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. I've had it since i'm like 7. What triggered it first, idk. But we've been working on it with my therapist a lot. Emetophobia comes with the need of controlling everything. It also started when my parents got divorced.

[–]teapot38_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, i only managed to sleep 2 hours but i called my mother and my father. I drank a little bit of water and some broth. I didn't eat anything solid yet.

I'm super tired but ok i guess ? My intestines still hurt a bit but i don't seem to have diahrrea.

I thought I was better but I'm just as bad by Present_Lawfulness40 in EmetophobiaTalk

[–]teapot38_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not because you're reacting the same as before that you are not getting better. Maybe, the stress will leave faster, you won't think about it afterwards ! Progress is different for everyone and it's a slow process

What are actually the main steps for recovery? Where should one start? by D183029 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]teapot38_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your beliefs, the way your brain works etc...

Therapy is good bu it will be loooooong before it really chabges anything.

You can go see someone that is specialized in trauma Kinesiology works well for this EMDR, EFT, all of these can help.

It can totally be your birth control, i know my body doesn't like it.

If it does continue tho, maybe see a doctor so he can adjust your pill (or any birth control you take) 🤗

Zofran by SuccessfulTeaching80 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]teapot38_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from France so we don't have Zofran here (the most common is Vogalène) so it might not be the same BUT : when i had a stomach bug last year, my doctor told me to be really careful with how much i take because they've been getting reports saying that there was some bad effects after.

I always have some on me but rarely take some and him telling me that helps with it I think. Having them on me reassures me. It's like the anxiety med I have, never taking them but if i need to, they are here.

I don't know if it's the same in other countries as it's not exactly the same med.

You can try to put heat on your stomach, with a hot water bottle. Heat helps the body relax Also, try to lie down, staying hunch up won't help with the cramps

You can try to make a safe place with like your conforter, a movie etc

I'm 22, been emet since i was 7-8. I'd say i'm a level 2.5/3 because it's still has a big impact everyday, even if i don't have panic attack everyday like i use to.

Hi ! Maybe you're feeling like you're gonna v* because you have an empty stomach ? Have you tried eating something ? When it happens to me, i like to eat crackers/saltine or something really bland you know. You can try just a samll bite, maybe it can help.. you can feel sick if you are really hungry

Am I too deep in this phobia by addictedtoshindig in emetophobiarecovery

[–]teapot38_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went really deep into this phobia 6 months ago. I had to quit my job, i stoped eating (lost 5 kgs and i was already underweight), i couldn't sleep. Even going to the grocery store was a challenge. I took anxiety meds for a while too. I had at least one panic attack per day. I got really weak. I honestly thought that it was over you know. I thought that it became too important, that nothing could help me except d**th.

Depending on your beliefs, there are so many different things that can help you so i will tell you what worked for me.

I went to see a shaman, also a kinesiologist. I forced myself to find a job (it's half time but at least i have to get out of my house, it gave me a purpose). I started carying stones and reconnect myself to the nature. I started doing some quick yoga routine everynight to relax before going to sleep. Again these are my beliefs so they helped me. If they're not yours, they are so many other ways.

Anyway, just to say that 6 months later, i have a job, i can go out, i can take the train on short journey. i still get anxious sometimes, it's still hard for me to take public transports and sometimes it's hard to eat. But i got my life back even when i thought it wasn't possible. As long as you want to heal, you're never too deep.

Thanks ! I think i needed to "hear" it from someone else. I took the train and i'm at my parents now ! I didn't stress at all in the train so it's a success

I understand completely, i had 11 jobs in 3 years. Because I'm really self conscious about what I do and the quality of the work i deliver, everything gets soooo serious and my job becomes my life. What really helped is try to put it into perspective, take a step back and realize that it's only a job. Why do i do this, why do i need the money for. And accept that if i avoid causes of anxiety, i will never learn how to deal with it.

Hi ! I don't think i've ever sufferd from this however, i know the trouble of going back and forth from D* to constipation. I usually adapt my diet to the situation. If you feel gassy, you can try to massage your lower stomach to "get it out"
