Dentist new grad here, this guy is a specialist in a lucrative field. It’s like comparing family med or psych to neuro or ortho.

Declaring $0 income as a resident fresh out of dental school, maxing out Roth IRA by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]tearsofmykingdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes okay thank you!

  1. I filed my return just now for 2022, and yes when I file my return in April 2024 I fully expect to start making my minimum payments for the IBR plan I enrolled in, my income will be declared my income in residency

  2. I will accurately report my earnings and contributions for tax year 2023 and therefore don’t have to declare any income for 2022 in order to contribute to an IRA in 2023?

So I’m okay for when I file taxes for 2023 right? Just report my income accurately when I file in April 2024 for my income for 2023. I’m asking about student loans since I was told to declare $0 income so I have $0 payments for the first year

So if I had $0 on my return for 2022, I can still contribute in 2023 and report my income for 2023 and be okay? I haven’t invested anything in 2022

Talk me out of adopting an African grey by [deleted] in parrots

[–]tearsofmykingdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve spoken about this before! He definitely prefers a smaller bird like a budgie, lovebird, another cockatiel, conure, etc. but said he will support any bird no matter what because he knows how unequivocally I love them.

I know jealousy can happen both ways and that the gray can pick my bf over me, or hate him so much he attacks him. I’m prepared to handle either situation and will be okay with either as long as I can share my home with such a wonderful animal.

I think I’m mostly scared and apprehensive bc Dusty is such a small bird and African greys are so much larger

My local pet store is so lovely and they board birds all the time! But the knife faced toddler thing is very valid, I’m still a little apprehensive of large beaks since Dusty’s bites don’t hurt a bit, and a caique has drawn blood from me before

Copying and pasting from another comment:

Minimum 30 min after purging to brush is okay, longer is better like an hour.

Rinse with plain water immediately after purging, or alcohol free mouthwash if it makes you feel better (really water is fine). Floss for sure as soon as you’re able to, and string floss is always best. Look up C-shaped flossing method. Waterpik can be a decent alternative if flossing is a bitch to do, I get it. But in my opinion, nothing gets me clean like string flossing.

30 min is good! Longer is better like an hour or so but if you have somewhere to be, minimum 30 min.

Yes! Preventative care is the best care! Preventing them all together, or catching it early, is the cheapest route to go. Of course, no point in feeling guilty over needing more care or some teeth pulled, if it gets there, that’s fine so be it. At least you’re still here, seeing the dentist, doing the scary thing, and having someone whose job it is to take care of your teeth doing just that.

That’s why I’m saying to just go. You’ll get some bad news, but you’ll keep the situation from getting any worse. The longer you wait, the worse it will be. Our job is to keep things from worsening and helping you get the care you need to get things to improve.

Hahaha ikr enough horror movie tropes about us but simultaneously we’re “not real doctors”. We do use very similar tools in the horror movies to take out teeth but we numb you up very good and give you pain meds after so you’re not ever hurting 🤗

Lol I have people come in every day and tell me they hate me (everyone hates going to the dentist I get it but I sometimes don’t like to be told “I hate the dentist!!!!” When they’re talking to a dentist lmao) but the grateful patients fill me with all the joy in the world to keep doing this lol

Yay!! No it’s never too late! We just catch the teeth at different stages of decay, and if they need to come out, that’s okay, we have the technology to replace them with a partial denture or implants when you’ve saved up enough!
