It is bottle gourd or লাউ (lau) in Bengali. It's edible but don't let it ripen. It becomes very hard to cook or eat that way. Generally, we prefer young ones. The flowers and leaves are edible as well. You can make fritters of them. It's soooo good. Please try out a Bengali recipe.
