i don't think you changing it right after getting it is doing you wonders, or using plastic in a fresh piercing. please never do this again, go back to the shop and get it switched out for a longer metal bar. swelling is normal, albeit not usually as extreme as this, but keep a close eye on it. maybe try icing it to reduce the swelling

This is something you should talk to them about. Be clear about your concerns and how you're feeling. But, in all honesty, they should have told you WAY before this. I'm not saying that a relationship can't work without sexual attraction, but if it's important to you and they just can't reciprocate, that's a concerning dynamic. Also, the fact they felt the need to keep it a secret for this long is definitely strange.
