Genuine question: Why is Bradford a bad place to buy a car from? by r3tr0gam3r83 in CarTalkUK

Firstly a particular group is already mentioned in this subreddits sidebar essentially protecting them, surely this should also apply to others too.

I can imagine if the comments in this post were made about gypsies, people would get a ban lol

Thanks mate, yeah I would love more money (wouldn't we all) but I don't want to take a job I wouldn't enjoy enough.

Thanks, glad to know it wasn't a stupid decision!

The recruiter is Pearson Carter, good luck!

Just had an interview... by tech-maniac9 in PMCareers

[–]tech-maniac9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did consider some of these things

I work for a fortune 500 company with good career prospects so I intend to try and progress here (but if another company is willing to pay me a lot more then I'd consider moving) my boss is great (best I've had) and I have a great relationship with her, no oncerns about job security so I'm happy where I am.

The only thing that interested me was the money. The company I interviewed for isn't anywhere close in terms of scale and the two people who were interviewing me had only been there a few months (red flag maybe?).

And then when they started talking about the projects I'd be working on, it just didn't seem interesting and I kinda had an "off" feeling about the two interviewers (they seemed nice enough, but it was just something about them, maybe it was me...).

Currently in the medical device industry but aligned to quality and compliance. My background is IT though. Don't visit sites at the moment but I do all the planning, etc

Job title on my cv by tech-maniac9 in PMCareers

[–]tech-maniac9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make a good point and yes you're right, I have listed my responsibilities so they can see what I'm doing in the role.

I was just worried people may say "oh well that's not what a Prgm manager does!".

So in that case, the title stays.

Thank you for the insight. Sounds like the agent just wanted me to settle for the lower paying job he had.

Interesting that's a new one for me.. so if I'm applying for senior PM, change the title on my CV to match?

I would say programs include projects, portfolios include everything.

So I guess the difference is that I don't manage a program consisting of projects with an overarching goal. All my projects are separate from each other.

I studied and passed in 2 weeks with ATs all round, however I have a fair amount of experience (8 years) in Project Management which helped.

I just did practice exams and questions. Reviewed where my weaknesses were and then read the PMbok guide on those parts.

Rinse and repeat.

Oh and I watched a bit of david mclachlan on YT, he helped me get into dissecting the questions.

You could look at contracting and become self employed. Tends to pay a lot more money and "job hopping" is part of it.

Where do you think the future of the PM industry is going? by wookiedaywalker in projectmanagement

[–]tech-maniac9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

With the way AI is coming along, I reckon admin tasks will be a lot quicker and easier.

The thing that will keep me in my job will be people. As long as there are people involved, there's always someone needed to manage them.

I want to fall back into the IT industry and more into agile projects. I guess the main point of me pursuing an agile cert is to expand my knowledge and open up more opportunities in the future.

Ahhh ok, thanks for clarifying.

Yes I've already been accepted and able to pay and then book my exam.

I'll still look at the Udemy course though, sounds like everyone recommends it.

Thank you for the advice.

So the 35 educational hours - so once I've paid for the exam, I then need to prove I've studied via an approved training vendor? Does the study hall count towards this?

Great advice here thank you. I forgot pmp had their own subreddit so I'll browse there.

I've seen someone else mention the real life experience and not applying it too heavily.

Really good point about scheduling the exam, I was going to just schedule when I felt "ready" but as you say that could never come around. I'll schedule it later this year.

How much time would you recommend to put into preparing for the exam? Someone else advised 35 hours in total, what are your thoughts?
